Somebody should tell this guy, we made peace with it fourteen centuries ago. The most refined and elegant aspects of Indian culture, its architecture, poetry, music, cuisine, and courtly traditions, are predominantly of Muslim origin. We didn’t just rule India, we cultivated, perfected, and gifted an entire civilisational legacy to the subcontinent. And since we’re on the subject of not knowing your own history, Basant was originally a seasonal celebration marking the arrival of spring, but FYI Basant as we know it today was shaped by the Mughals, who elevated and popularised the kite-flying tradition associated with it. Mughal emperors flew kites from the very ramparts of Lahore Fort. Amir Khusrau, a Muslim Sufi poet and devoted disciple of Nizamuddin Auliya, is credited with introducing Basant celebrations at Sufi shrines as a celebration of spiritual renewal. So before you go drawing forks in the road, maybe try reading a history book or two.
