3/3 - One of the factors driving woodland declines is the increase the UK’s wild deer population. @BBS_birds volunteers record mammals on their surveys and the data collected lets us calculate population trends for Red Deer, Fallow Deer, Roe Deer and Muntjac.

Over the next few days we'll take a deeper look at each of the indicators in turn. In the meantime, we'd like to say a huge 'thank you' to all of the volunteers who contribute to core monitoring schemes, such as @BBS_birds and @smp_seabirds. Read more 👉bto.org/our-science/pu…

The wintering waterbird indicator has been updated with the latest species trend results from WeBS and GSMP. As ever, thank you to the thousands of volunteers who make this possible. Learn more: #wintering_waterbird" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">bto.org/our-science/pu…

We have been saying a VERY fond farewell to Graham Austin today, who amongst other @_BTO duties (GIS, ringing data, other waterbird work…) has led on WeBS data and analysis for 30 years! We're sure you join us in gratefully wishing him a very happy retirement. Thanks Graham!

1/4. To complete #INNSweek, we have the four remaining non-native species that @BBS_birds monitors across the UK. Three are from the ‘pheasant’ family, Pheasant, Red-legged Partridge and Indian Peafowl (peacock). Little Owl also has a UK and England trend.

Some of the largest increases in the recently published UK wintering waterbird indices were in #NonNative species Mandarin, Egyptian Goose and Canada Goose. #WeBSReport #INNSweek Check if they are on a site near you: bto.org/webs-reporting @_BTO @RSPBScience @JNCC_UK
