The shifts in #phenology likely reflect more frequent nest failures 🪺➡️🍳 in 🏴 and identify the brood phase 🐣 as a pinch point in the annual cycle. This may presage population declines 📉 in 🏴 with continued #climate #warming.

We used biometrics collected by #CitizenScience ringers to reconstruct the #phenology of Willow Warblers: Declining populations in 🏴 finish (fail?) breeding & 🪶moult earlier than increasing populations in 🏴.

@ali__johnston @SeabirdStudent I'm not aware of a central overview of usage metrics across schemes. Usage is a bit tricky to define (e.g. total users v regular users, total lists v total records v total locations, etc.). Last time we looked at the UK, BirdTrack was 1st, eBird an increasingly close 2nd.

Wohoo 🥳 our new paper is out open access in @GEB_macro. We looked at how species range positions influence population responses to weather anomalies and then community stability in butterflies in the UK, Spain and Finland.
