Richard Jefferson: "Man, people always want to start some drama. Look, I'll clear the air right now because there's been so much nonsense. This wasn't an official team-sponsored trip or some mass email that went out to the entire 2016 roster."
Channing Frye: "Right. It didn't start like that at all."
Richard Jefferson: "Exactly. It started from our little secret group chat. You guys know the one. It's me, Channing, LeBron, J.R. Smith, Tristan, and Kevin Love. The old heads. We're the ones who have just stayed in constant communication for the last decade. We were literally just talking in that chat and someone said, 'Hey, it's been ten years, we need to go somewhere and celebrate.'"
Channing Frye: "And then we booked it, and like two weeks later we were like, 'Oh wait, this is going to look really bad if it's just the six of us and we don't invite anybody else.'"
Richard Jefferson: "Exactly! Once we started putting it together, we realized we needed to reach out to the other guys. So we started making calls. But you try coordinating a vacation for a dozen grown men in their late 30s with kids and businesses. It's impossible."
Richard Jefferson: "Yeah. Delly and Shump were able to make it work, but they had to come a few days late after the Finals wrapped up. But guys like Kyrie, Jordan McRae, Timofey Mozgov—there was no snub. We reached out, but schedules just didn't align. There is absolutely nothing but love for Kyrie and every single guy on that roster. We won a championship together. We're brothers for life."
