@pageservant @IndianaGPA wasnt "over engineered" it was that they werent as efficient as they are now. you can make more power with less fuel or less displacement than you could back then. which increases the stresses on all components.

@IndianaGPA Had one - the hand crank was a real pain-in-the....one day, some how, the mower caught fire and that solved the problem. But you are otherwise right; EVERYTHING older was better built - washers, dryers, motors, engines - they say 'over engineered' but they worked and lasted.

I honestly don't understand why they stopped making this model. It feels like technology went backwards instead of moving forward. The older Briggs & Stratton designs were simple, reliable, and built to last, and now it seems like everything is more complicated but not necessarily better. 🤔

@ReviewsPossum thats the thing, these companies chose to just make vehicles bigger rather than develop more efficient engines. this is literally the result of them being cheap.

@TiradeYT @justinaug09 @RedPill_Phil @HLC_actual Hahahahaha....wait youre serious? You REALLY think they were prosecuted for polluting? Rivers were starting on fire and Dupont was causing livestock deaths and massive birth defects from their pollution with zero consequences.

The EPA was founded on the basis of stimulating US domestic industry in competition with Britain by literally granting pollution licenses to large corporations. Prior to the EPA we had tort laws where pollution of other's private property was actually prosecuted. The EPA is the reason we have pollution.

@HLC_actual So you want to be one of the guys on the skyscraper, assembling those beams at 80, 90, 100, stories up without any safety equipment enduring those 30-40mph sustained winds?

@eevblog lol uprising, yes.....because that wasnt tens of millions of armed people needed to overthrow a government. they didnt have tens of millions of armed protesters. or you get the military on your side, which they also didnt have. any potential uprising/revolution would fail.

@Eviltrkeyslice @eevblog cool, thats likely all of the people in the actual leadership positions. then you have the people in the secretary or second position that step up to replace them. much like what the u.s. does. then you have the third people in line, and the fourth, and fifth, ect..

@esaagar The US has roughly 275k AIM-9s. Something we're barely even using atm because so few drones make it out of Iran atm. Lemme know when we "run out"

@DavidV_81 @eevblog cool....thats still not enough to cause the collapse. there's likely still people that will step into those positions. much like how the u.s. gov has people that will be promoted to the position above them if the person is incapacitated or killed.

Democrats are making a huge mistake in rushing out and denouncing Trump for attacking the Iranian regime. Yes, it’s unconstitutional. But if the regime falls and the people dance in the streets celebrating their liberation, the Dems are going to look really bad for opposing it. That could be why Trump did it. He needs to shuffle the deck or face certain defeat in the fall. It would be much wiser to fight Trump on his other unconstitutional policies, such as his illegal, demented and unpopular tariffs, and his use of the Justice department to persecute enemies. Wait and see on Iran. If he lets the regime massacre the people when they come out, as his did last month, then blast him. But for now, wait and see.

Checking back on our 10 surprises for 2026, the hit rate has been pretty good so far. However, the one thing we feel investors are becoming complacent on is the "Sell America" trade given 1) pretty extreme relative performance and 2) contrarian magazine covers from the Economist and Barron's this month.
Variant Perception@VrntPerception

In tribute to Byron Wien, we've released our annual 10 surprises for 2026 report. We define surprise as an event that the average investor would assign less than a 33% probability, but which we believe is “Probable,” having a 50%+ likelihood.

@MenchOsint yeah except, can it take down multiples at the same time? what if 4 or 5 are launched at the same time, can it fend that many off? because what if that becomes the next phase if we go in again.

OK guys, time to adress these rumors. 1) Helicopters of the 160th SOAR are equipped with the latest Laser Countermeasures System 2) it was 2am, MANPADS operators are not robots, they're not 24/7 ready to shoot. The helicopters entered Caracas very fast, they could have shot when they left, but couldn't take the risk to shoot helicopters carrying the president.

I'm informed by reliable sources that there were orders given to air defence forces in Venezuela not to fire on US Choppers, or Aircraft. It seems there was widespread infiltration / cooperation with the US forces from inside the Venezuelan military. Venezuela has over 4k man portable anti air assets, and 100 ground based air defence systems. Only one shoulder launched weapon was fired.

There are many questions to be answered about Venezuela. 1 - Who gave the order to turn off the radars? The VP with the Venezuelan military or the American government? 2 - Who gave the order to turn off the long-, medium-, and short-range air defenses? The VP with the Venezuelan military or the American government? 3 - Who gave the order that no MANPADs be fired against the helicopters? This could only have been done by the VP with the Venezuelan military. 4 - Who executed Maduro's entire guard? The VP with the Venezuelan military or the American government? According to the information, they were all executed in cold blood. 5 - Why were all the vessels, fighter jets, and more than 20 Venezuelan bases spared? Who gave that order? This one is easy. This could only be part of a broader agreement. Rotary-wing aviation is easy to detect by radars, and Venezuela operates more than 30 radars, with 9 new ones being installed in September.
