I have a story that I think hits to the center of this.
I worked for ESPN for two months as a temporary PA (left to start my writing career) roughly 11 years ago.
During the interview process, I was asked by a decision maker at the company what I would change about ESPN.
I told him I would want more highlights and more focus on games.
He told me I was wrong and that fans don’t care about games once they go final, they only care about storylines.
I told him that storylines need the context of games (or highlights of them on sportscenter!) and he told me, again, I was wrong.
I think they’ve continued to lose touch with what makes sports fans, sports fans

“Literally - the minute the Biden Administration was over - all the top Biden A.I. employees went to work at Anthropic, which tells you who they were working with during the Biden years.”

My son was a benchwarmer for various sports at his school for several years.
He was super diligent and worked hard, but we didn’t have the body mass or the hand-eye coordination to be successful in sports like football or Lacross.
Three years ago, the cross-country coach talked him into joining the team. He was not sold on the concept of getting up early and running but thought he would give it a try.
What he found was that his natural diligence played really well into distance running. He had a good season and then went on to be successful in track as a Sophomore and did even better as a Junior.
He could’ve just enjoyed now being an asset to his school and someone who did pretty well. But instead, he spent the past couple summers running and training hard. In fact, he now runs 60 miles a week on top of speed training, lifting, etc.
On Saturday, this kid just WON STATE in the 5k with a time of 15:41, and I couldn't be more proud.

@SpineNeuro Would say it’s like any government or non government organization… spend it or lose it. Hence the incentive to spend / hire to request a larger capital allocation for the following year

Jim Mora gives a "PLAYOFFS?!" in an interview with NBC 7 San Diego. He still has the same energy and enthusiasm at 90. 🏈🎙️ #NFL

@cremieuxrecueil Will this finally bend the curve on heart failure?

Here we go.
The White House is close to $149 a month GLP-1 coverage.
We're on the verge of crushing healthcare costs and eliminating obesity and chronic disease.

Crémieux@cremieuxrecueil
Dr. Oz said we'd be "hearing more about [GLP-1s] soon". He then started talking about allowing companies to recoup their costs before then negotiating down their prices. I suspect there's good GLP-1RA news for Medicare and Medicaid in the pipeline.

Renal Denervation gaining momentum.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is set to finalize a national coverage determination (NCD) for renal denervation (RDN) by October 2025, potentially expanding Medicare coverage for Medtronic’s Symplicity Spyral and Recor Medical’s Paradise systems. These FDA-approved devices, used to treat uncontrolled hypertension, deliver energy to ablate overactive nerves near the kidneys, reducing blood pressure. The decision follows Medtronic’s request and CMS’s transitional pass-through payments effective January 2025, supporting access to these innovative treatments. Analysts from J.P. Morgan and RBC Capital Markets view the NCD as a significant opportunity for Medtronic, potentially standardizing coverage and reducing patient-by-patient prior authorizations. The American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association now include RDN in hypertension guidelines, signaling growing acceptance. However, clinical adoption may be gradual due to the need for physician training and referral pathway development. The market for RDN could reach $6 billion by 2030.
