The PrAEctiCe agroecology final conference was a success In Kenya, 800 farmers now practice integrated fisheries and vegetable production, and two youth-led companies are preparing to scale these methods with support from Kisumu County's Department of Agriculture. In Uganda, 250 stakeholders trained in aquaponic systems will soon train others, multiplying impact through a train-the-trainer model launching next week. In Tanzania, 5,000 people have been reached through programmes on poultry, fish, and crop integration. The event showcased four years of work across three countries, brought to life by the leadership of the Apodissi team in collaboration with the National Agricultural Research Organization team, Cassius Aruho Barry Kamira, and Dr. Alice Andra, meticulous event planning, and stakeholder coordination. This meeting is part of the project's first key steps to meet the NCPs, share the project objectives with them, and discuss gaps, and support for their participation in EIT - European Institute of Innovation and Technology opportunities. At the kick-off of the #EITBEST project in #Brussels. The project, made of 24 partners from 22 countries, will address the challenges faced by the network of EIT National Contact Points #NCPs enhancing their capacity to provide efficient, harmonised, and accessible support services. The project will create synergies with other #EU programs, ensuring the effective dissemination of EIT opportunities and resources. It will implement tailored actions, including targeted training sessions, toolkits for newcomers, and workshops, complemented by events aimed at capacity building and enhancing outreach. We are proud to be the only partner from #Africa, and we will do our best to ensure #Nigerian and African innovation ecosystems are aware of the EIT - European Institute of Innovation and Technology knowledge and collaboration opportunities.

🌍 Today in Brussels, we had the privilege of attending the #EUNigeria Digital Open Day -an inspiring and strategically important event shaping the future of Nigeria’s digital transformation. Organised by the @EU_Commission DG INTPA, the day brought together EU institutions, Nigerian leaders, development banks, and private-sector innovators to explore how we can accelerate digital infrastructure, skills, and innovation across Nigeria. The highlight of the event was Project Bridge -Nigeria’s bold plan to deploy 90,000 km of open-access fibre, expanding the national network to 125,000 km, making it the third-longest fibre infrastructure in #Africa. This initiative is expected to: ✔ Connect 20–30 million unconnected citizens ✔ Reduce data costs and unlock digital trade ✔ Strengthen national security ✔ Enable growth in sectors from agritech to hashtag#AI ✔ Create thousands of jobs ✔ Lay the foundation for a $1 trillion digital economy With $800M in public equity already secured, Nigeria is now mobilising $1.1B in private-sector investment, a significant opportunity for European companies. The conversations throughout the day were honest, technical, and forward-looking. Key themes stood out: 🔹 Connectivity must scale sustainably — including into neighbouring regions such as Niger, Cameroon, Burkina Faso and Chad. 🔹 Digital Public Infrastructure must be interoperable, secure, and citizen-centric. 🔹 Nigeria’s tech talent base is a major competitive advantage. 🔹 EU–Nigeria collaboration is deepening, supported by the €820M Nigeria Digital Economy Package and today’s €45M signature. 🔹 Public–private partnerships will be critical in accelerating deployment and innovation. For us, the Open Day reaffirmed the importance of building ecosystems, not just infrastructure - ensuring that digital transformation is inclusive, locally anchored, and aligned with long-term development ambitions. AOT 7.0 #Lagos, Nigeria! A glimpse into how technology is shaping the future of Lagos state. This year's version centered around future technologies and a sustainable Lagos, looking back at the previous edition as highlighted by The Lagos State Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Mr Olatunbosun Alake. Art Of Technology Lagos has supported startups, provided guidance, and created acceleration structures to expand the creative economy as well as explore the growing impact of AI. The initiative is doing more this year. Today, the @followlasg State Government launched the Digital Experience Platform, an intelligent chatbot powered by EkoSmartAI. This platform is designed to help Lagosians access state information quickly and easily in multiple local languages. Speaking at the event, Kola Masha spoke on the concept of a “digital nervous system: Feeding the Factories, Feeding the Future". A perspective on agricultural innovation that resonates with an ongoing EU project we are a part of, highlighting the increasing intersection between digital transformation and sustainable development. The breakout session on harnessing AI, robotics, and blockchain for urban innovation also sparked conversations on how AI is reshaping customer service, with telcos and banks exploring smarter ways to reduce waiting times and improve user experience through automated support tools. Adriano Mauro has joined other partners in #Zaragoza, Spain, for the Smart Step project coordination meeting focused on strengthening the action plans led by African institutions. During the meeting, INTIME-Univ Cameroon shared progress on stakeholder engagement, active dissemination efforts, and the development of the INTIME’INNOV incubator concept to sustain results beyond the project. The Smart Step project has been developed for the platform to offer free, accessible training courses and meaningful exchanges between students across countries. Apodissi will also continue to use the platform to offer relevant courses after the project. #Innovation #education #elearning
