@MaryEkemezie This post is spreading lies, misinformation and fallacies. Can you quote any factual, scientific backing to affirm what you claim is true? Making insinuations cannot verify with FACTS? Show me where FAO, WHO, USDA or reputable organisations have affirmed this misinformation.

It is not good to lie, that's all I can say. There are real lives at stake here. We should investigate the reason why the following counties banned the cultivation of GMO in their lands: Germany France Australia Norway Russia Saudi Arabian Switzerland Netherlands Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales Poland Austria Croatia Denmark Turkey Italy Hungary Greece Belize Cyprus Ecuador Malta Kenya Algeria Madagascar Lithuania Luxembourg Moldova Latvia Bosnia nas Herzegovina Bulgaria Croatia India Bhutan Kyrgyztan Peru Ukraine Serbia Slovenia Venezuela Zambia Tanzania In addition, you should want to know why the Brazilian Supreme Court ordered Bayer to return the US$252 million it charged farmers as royalties for using GMO products in their farms. It would also be interesting to understand why the most progressive State in the United States has banned the cultivation of GMO in the State. While still on this subject, please find out what the following terms mean: Pleiotropy Noxious weeds Superweeds The side effects of GMOs include: Antibiotic resistance Allergy Autism spectrum disorder Cancer Gastrointestinal tract diseases Infertility Celiac disease Kidney disease

What you should know about GMO Seeds & Foods. Are they safe or designed to depopulate Africans? It's going to be a lengthy reading & pls bear with me. GMOs are Genetically Modified Organisms - which means the gene (unit of hereditary) the organism has is modified (minor change) to give us a trait (characteristic) we want or desire. "Why Modify our Food" Most of the food we produce are from the wild, some have too much seeds in it, some do not taste sweet, some are not insects or pest resistant - when we cultivate them we get small yield because insect and pest have reduce them & they are also not quality because of the pest. Maize for instance - in Nigeria our yiled per hectare is 2 tons other countries are getting 5/6/8/10, major reason for that is the pest called Army Worm, it can cause up to 80-90% loss in yield, you'll have to use plenty pesticides & the pesticide contaminate our food and cause serious health problems. Now these GMO are modified such that only these pests can't feed on them which gives us good yield and we don't have to use plenty pesticides that contaminate our food. Also they are drought resistant (if we don't have plenty rain they won't die off). "Can GMO be replanted?" Yes! GMO seeds can be replanted and just like hybrid seeds out there they lose their desirable traits viability after the first season - that's why we advise farmers to buy seed either GMO or hybrid every season bcs if you replant them, they won't do well like the first year. "Is GMO safe?" Yes! GMO is safe, there has never been a research or investigation even published that shows GMO causes any health implications, "Why is other countries banning GMO" There's something called production advantage, if you produce more than enough of a type crop, there's no point using GMO, so countries use GMO for crops they do not have production advantage. Example Nigeria is the highest producer of Onions in sub Sahara Africa - there's no point asking for GMO onions seed bcs we produce more than enough through hybrid seeds. Russia banned GMO of the rift with US bcs of Mosanto (a big GMO seed player is a US company), UK is growing GMO on a large scale, GMO is banned in India but they cultivate GMO cotton, China banned GMO but grow GMO papaya, Austria banned bcs they are not sure of the health implications, Italy banned because of precautionary principles. USA is the highest producer of GMO foods, their maize is 90% GMO. "Why are people worried about GMO?" It is the fear of the unknown plus the propaganda about GMO. Infact GMO production has reduced the use of pesticides upto 37% (world average), increase farmers income up to 40% (world average) and reduce food insecurity 12% (world average). The TELA MAIZE is a GMO developed and designed by our local food biotechnologist, it has been tested & confirmed to be safe & healthy for consumption. No one is going to kolobi the seed & make us starve. We are doing our own to improve our food. Fact: Many of our food are already GMOs but because of no labelling of our foods many aren't aware. Another Fact: Genetic Engineering which is used to make GMO is the same process used to make INSULIN - the medicine used to treat Diabetes. Over 25 years of GMO existence in world market there has never been any recorded or scientifically proven health issues through GMO consumption. Please don't follow propaganda bandwagon - educate yourself please. Good evening my friend Lanre NaijaFarmer
