🔥 SHOCKING TRUTH 🔥 Over 70% of Pro Athletes Go Broke After Making Millions 🤯 You see them signing $50M, $100+ million contracts… riding on private jets, living in luxury mansions, driving expensive cars. Then, a few years after retirement? Many are completely broke 🧵

Scotland’s World Cup pilgrimage comes with a significant price tag, long before kick-off and well beyond the stadium gates ✍️ @MarkPalmerST #Echobox=1781246819" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">thetimes.com/uk/scotland/ar…

This is classic finance. Huge gross headline figures, complicated public funding stacks, political blame-games, and fans paying the price. Who’s getting the better deal here, NJ, NYC, or FIFA? Drop your take👇and follow @ApostleSports for more sports finance insights.

NYC is spending ~$66M+ (police, marketing, host committee), but only expects to pull in about $51M back in taxes. That’s a projected $40M net loss for the city, even though the final is in New Jersey.

The 2026 World Cup Final will be held at MetLife in New Jersey, but the real game is happening in the budgets. New York and New Jersey are both spending serious taxpayer money to host the World Cup, and the numbers are messier than most people realize.🧵

Bears rookie Dillon Thieneman (No. 25 pick), has to make a savvy financial move prior to ever playing a snap, Leaving Oregon’s 9.9% state tax for Illinois’ 4.95% = ~$500K+ swing on his signing bonus alone. Smart residency plays = financial literacy = generational wealth.

The Miami Heat are reportedly ‘genuinely concerned’ about the Boston Celtics, per @JakeLFischer “Rival teams, furthermore, continue to point to Boston's various assets as illustrating its ability to become a factor here. They also note that Antetokounmpo shares a skills coach with Jayson Tatum (Drew Hanlen) and is believed to have a level of interest in landing with the Celtics on top of his well-chronicled affinity for Miami…This much is clear: Boston is believed to be a potential suitor that genuinely concerns Miami.” (Via substack.com/redirect/2/eyJ…)

Is this a fair number considering most expected JD to ask for a max-extension? Maybe he just wants out of Detroit in general and wants to get to a better tax state... Also, $30M gross is = ~$13-$15 million net, depending on his assets and liabilities and how good his CPA is.

Jalen Duren is reportedly expected to command more than $30 million per year on the open market, per @TimBontemps “Sources around the league say they believe Duren will get more than $30 million per year. The question for Detroit is how big that number will get. As Langdon said, a hefty price tag for Duren cuts down on the Pistons' future flexibility quite a bit.” (Via espn.com/nba/story/_/id…)

@TheDunkCentral @TimBontemps Giving Jalen Duren $30M a year is completely insane, the NBA salary cap is officially broken if a role player on a lottery team commands that much bag 💀

@TheDunkCentral @TimBontemps After his playoff performance he might get the Schroeder treatment if he doesn't stay in Detroit. Wemby is in a similar situation now as well (and Chet), as all 3 of the "next era of big men" folded under the lights numerous times this postseason... x.com/ApostleSports/…

That was quite literally the greatest basketball game I have ever watched last night, APSM is from Seattle, so there is no dog in the fight other than NEVER OKC... Is Wemby still on track to make $350+ mil at his extension or did that game expose the alien might be from earth?

The Chiefs are adding two years to Patrick Mahomes’ contract, tying him to Kansas City through the 2033 season at a value of $504.75 million. Beginning in 2027, when the new money begins, the deal averages $64 million per year, setting a new NFL record for average annual value. (via @adamschefter, @RapSheet)
