Great to have hosted our first Roundtable on UK-India affairs, chaired by @Lord_Bilimoria, with guest speaker @NITIAayog’s Mr Suman Bery. Held under the Chatham House Rule, many topical issues were discussed, ranging from gender to geopolitics. @HCI_London @Baroness_Verma

Manmohan Singh, India's first Sikh Prime Minister and Finance Minister, helped lay the foundations for India's prosperity. He helped *eradicate* extreme poverty in India. Personally, he has been an inspiration for me and I am deeply saddened by his death.

India mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished leaders, Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji. Rising from humble origins, he rose to become a respected economist. He served in various government positions as well, including as Finance Minister, leaving a strong imprint on our economic policy over the years. His interventions in Parliament were also insightful. As our Prime Minister, he made extensive efforts to improve people’s lives.

A real honour to read the Kohima Epitaph at #RemembranceSunday in Delhi today. Poignant words from a brutal Indian battlefield 80 years ago, used in every memorial service across the UK, and at so many @CWGC memorials today. ‘When you go home, tell them of us and say: for your tomorrow, we gave our today.’ We will remember them.
