Four years ago in the East Room of the White House I was told to sit down during a press conference on midterm election results. I tried to ask about voter suppression. I was continuously told to “sit down.” Four years later,yesterday I was able to ask three questions.

Donald Trump’s recent public appearances continue to raise serious questions. He has repeatedly appeared unable to walk in a straight line, his hands have shown visible discoloration covered by heavy makeup, and his speech has become increasingly erratic. This week, he also missed a series of basic putts in front of children despite spending much of his time on the golf course. The pattern is becoming harder and harder to ignore.

Next Saturday members of the Congressional Black Caucus and civil rights leaders are converging on Montgomery, Alabama in a mass show of force with a huge rally against the new redistricting efforts in the state.
