The master plan must integrate water and landuse well (if it hasnt but if it has , good), otherwise we shall turn L. Kyoga (very shalllow) into a sewerage.

@erich_mboowa *90 hectares (ha) based on my estimate from QGIS. The golf course is about 55.5 ha and Kasubi Tombs is approx 30 Ha. I’d KCCA was serious, we would have much of the low laying areas greened and equipped with bioretention systems, swales etc.

@erich_mboowa Unfortunately when we think development, we think concrete structures 🤦🏽🤦🏽. I was looking over green spaces in Kampala and Kabaka’s palace Lubiri is by far the largest green space (approx 105 ha). If it were up to KCCA, it would be filled up with lousy malls 🤦🏽🤦🏽.

Kampala Needs More Green Public Spaces Kampala City is growing, yet our green spaces are disappearing. The city has very few public parks, and even the existing green belts and road islands are often ignored and walked on. Green spaces are not a luxury. They are essential. They cool the city, improve air quality, support mental and physical health, reduce flooding, and make Kampala more beautiful and livable. What KCCA can do: Develop more public parks across all divisions Protect green belts and road islands with clear barriers and enforcement Integrate greenery into all road and infrastructure projects A modern Kampala must also be a green Kampala. Development should not come at the cost of the city’s lungs. 🌱 Kampala deserves better.

@deserter001 @Aspolloatuheire The mud houses stood the taste of time. My grandfather’s old house was made of mud+round pole, light sheet roof with trusses made from coconut tree (very light). These houses if well constructed are very are strong, flexible, and durable. They are eco-friendly (zero cement)
