@OliverJia1014 I feel like some ppl don't really get that there's a huge difference between everyday talk and game text. Take English as an example. Native speakers might not feel it, but non-native speakers who can communicate fluently in daily life still struggle a lot when playing CRPGs

How do you think I’ve been able to live in Japan without basic literacy skills?
I read plenty, but not everyone regularly reads visual novels and encounters that kind of grammar in their daily life here.
Why do people studying Japanese insist on being this petty?
暇ニンゲン@himaningen45
Dude you really don't need to flex more about how illiterate you are. 'I live in Japan, have a job, have a wife but have never read a novel' isn't exactly the flex you think it is

@SOPincorporated @Clip_Master__ The 'gas station ban' is fake news, don't buy it. I searched for this in Chinese and couldn't find a single report about the driver being banned from refueling. All I found was that the driver's personal info was leaked and a ton of people are calling him demanding an apology
English

@Clip_Master__ I get that this was horribly disrespectful, but a permanent ban from all gas stations is a bit extreme isn't it?

@Genki_JPN GTA V came out in 2013—that’s a 13-year gap if the sequel arrives this year. If you make every mainline FF game a global masterpiece, players will always remember you.

Yoshi-P says it has become harder for younger people to engage with the Final Fantasy series because the release intervals for new titles have gotten longer!
"I'm 53 now, and I've been playing since Final Fantasy 1 in real time. But for younger generations – people who grew up naturally accustomed to action-based combat and online competitive play – the recent entries in the series may have been harder to engage with.
Part of that is simply because I'm sorry to say... the release intervals for new titles have gotten longer, so some players haven't really had the chance to connect with the series the way older fans did."

@VandeputteAdam Take Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere: great sales, but Season 3 is unlikely. The novels are brick-thick and a nightmare to adapt. Now that the studio has Love Live!, which is easier and more profitable, they’d rather put their energy there
English

@VandeputteAdam Others mentioned a new season is in the works, but take it with a grain of salt until it's official. Anime sequels depend on many factors: BD sales, source material growth, or if it was just a giant ad for the novels. Also, there's the studio's willingness.

@MadnessWatcher Next time, explain it simply for the fool: 100% of your money comes from your boss, but that doesn't mean 100% of the money your boss pays out is yours🤡
English

@ax10zx Considering the sheer volume of anime, many feels like an overstatement. I can think of some Japanese anime with ancient CN setting, but I can think of tons set in Europe. Look at Frieren, Spice and Wolf, AoT, D.Gray-man, The Rose of Versailles, Fullmetal Alchemist, and many more

@frogmaster300 @Yusso_17 @QuattroMKII Not necessarily. In Ancient China, Qin revered black based on Five Elements theory, as Water (Black) conquers Fire (the previous Zhou). In Ancient Egypt, black also meant rebirth, symbolizing the fertile soil from the Nile. It’s far more than just a symbol of death
English

@Yusso_17 @QuattroMKII historically the black flag has always been soaked in blood, death, and misery, regardless of culture:
adapting it for your culture is usually really telling on your true mindset and philosophy.

@XC_Enel I remember ppl saying Reconguista in G was hard to follow cuz of its rushed pacing. G-Reco only had 26 episodes, while even the original 0079 got 43 (cut short from 52). If a legend like Tomino gets this treatment, u can imagine the struggle for other original anime directors
English

Anime originals have a big problem today of not being given enough time. One of my new favorite anime I watched literally this year was Eureka Seven, something that had 50 episodes to flesh out the characters and tell its story. Modern originals maybe get 13 episodes these days.

@_is_luk_ @ChibiReviews HK HQ doesn't mean it's 'from China.' Founder Seth Fischer served in the IDF and the leadership is entirely Western. Regardless of your feelings toward China, at least respect the facts: this is an international firm that simply chose to base its operations on Chinese territory
English

@ChibiReviews Japan has been censoring itself to please the China market for some time...
No one likes China; they just want the goodwill that anime gives to Japan
English

@ChibiReviews Incorrect. Being headquartered in HK doesn't make it a 'Chinese fund.' Oasis was founded by Seth Fischer, who notably served in the IDF before his finance career, and operates as a Western-style global activist firm. Its DNA is international, not Chinese

@DreadedVendetta @serkantoto Larian & Valve. Despite recent mass layoffs, the CEOs of Larian and FromSoftware explicitly stated they won't follow the trend. Their philosophy mirrors Satoru Iwata’s: refusing to cut staff just to boost financial reports. As for Valve, they aren't public and have no plans to be
English

@serkantoto Is Nintendo the only company that won't take shit from big investors who clearly know nothing about entertainment? They are FAR from perfect but every other company seems to be spreading their buttocks wide open to be fucked over in the long run
English

In 2014, the same activist urged Nintendo to "Just think of paying 99 cents just to get Mario to jump a little higher."
This ridiculous nonsense is still online: oasiscm.com/wp-content/upl…

@sunmichael224 @TheFigen_ Efficiency and accuracy were worse. At 48k tons, the Soviet Typhoon was 2.7x the US Ohio. Because R-39 missiles couldn't be miniaturized, they needed a massive hull. Despite higher explosive yield, the R-39 lagged behind the Ohio's Trident in range, accuracy, and stability
English

@AqBones @TheFigen_ Do that increase accuracy and efficiency?
I am honestly wondering here!
English

@ShitpostRock2 I get it—if you’ve never played a day-one release, flashy AAA graphics are tempting. People usually say that because they’re bitter they can't play the new stuff. But you only appreciate retro gems once you’ve suffered through today’s 'modern trash.'
English

@JmTradBR @bee_fumo @ShitpostRock2 It used to be a hassle a few years back, but Apple updated its App Store policy since then. Now emulators like PPSSPP and Delta are officially available on the store
English

@bee_fumo @ShitpostRock2 that time, yes. nowdays, no. you can even run emulators of older systems in a browser
