After I became president, I asked my escort to go to a restaurant for lunch. We sat down and each of us asked what we wanted. On the front table, there was a man waiting to be served. When he was served, I said to one of my soldiers: go and ask that gentleman to join us. The soldier went and conveyed my invitation to him. The man got up, took his plate and sat down right next to me. While he ate his hands trembled constantly and he did not lift his head from his food. When we finished, he said goodbye without looking at me, I shook his hand and he left. The soldier told me: Madiba that man must have been very ill, seeing as his hands didn't stop shaking while he ate.- Absolutely no! the reason for his trembling is another. Then I told him: That man was the warden of the prison where I stayed. After he tortured me, I screamed and cried asking for some water and he came humiliated me, laughed at me and instead of giving me water, he urinated in my head. He is not sick, he was afraid that I, now president of South Africa, would send him to prison and do to him what he did to me. But I'm not like that, this conduct is not part of my character, nor of my ethics. ′′Minds that seek revenge destroy states, while those that seek reconciliation build nations. Walking out the door to my freedom, I knew that if I didn't leave all the anger, hatred and resentment behind me, I would still be a prisoner." Nelson Mandela

ARMY STRIKES IPOB/ESN STRONGHOLDS, RECOVERS EXPLOSIVE, RANSOM FUNDS Troops of the Nigerian Army (NA) under Operation EASTERN SANITY have intensified offensive operations across the South-East, decisively overrunning IPOB/ESN strongholds and pushing the criminal elements into disarray. Relentless pressure mounted by the troops, backed by superior firepower, intelligence and joint-force synergy, has continued to expose the group’s weakening structure and inability to withstand sustained military action. On 14 April 2026, joint troops of Sector 1, supported by the Air Component of Operation UDO KA, launched a precision strike and clearance operation in Ajali Forest, Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State. The offensive forced IPOB/ESN elements into a chaotic retreat, abandoning critical assets, including an anti-tank Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The failed attempt to deploy the device underscores the group’s desperation and declining operational competence. The IED was safely secured by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Security team, averting potential harm to troops and civilians. Troops have since established firm dominance over the general area, sustaining aggressive clearance operations and systematically dismantling all terrorist infrastructure. The deliberate destruction of hideouts using chainsaws and bulldozers has stripped the criminals of cover, leaving them exposed, scattered and unable to regroup or mount any meaningful resistance. In a related intelligence-driven operation on the same day, troops of 82 Division Garrison deployed at Adani in Uzo-Uwani LGA, acting on credible intelligence from the Department of State Services, tracked and intercepted ransom proceeds linked to a kidnapping syndicate. The swift raid led to the arrest of a notorious kidnap suspect, further exposing the group’s reliance on criminality to sustain its collapsing network. Exploitation of the area led to the recovery of a pump-action rifle and the sum of Two Million Naira (₦2,000,000), Cash believed to be ransom funds, from the suspect’s residence. The suspect and recovered items have been handed over to the appropriate authorities, for a through investigation to track other members of the criminal gang. The operation further degraded the IPOB/ESN’s operational and financial capacity. These outcomes further demonstrate that IPOB/ESN elements are steadily losing ground, resources and cohesion under sustained military pressure. The Nigerian Army remains unrelenting and fully committed to annihilating all criminal and insurgent elements, denying them any sanctuary. The NA further assures law-abiding citizens of its unwavering resolve to protect lives and property and urges continued public support as operations intensify to restore enduring peace and stability across the South-East.

Breaking: New dawn as Akanu Ibiam Airport gets first ever international certification ... Enugu State govt hails devt The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has issued an Aerodrome Certification for the Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA), Enugu, to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). The certificate was presented on Monday at the NCAA headquarters in Abuja following the airport's full compliance with both national and international aviation safety and operational standards. The Director-General of NCAA, Chris Najomo, described the development as a major achievement, noting that it aligned with the stringent requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Najomo, who was represented by the agency's Director of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards, Ahmad Abba, explained that the certification was sequel to a rigorous five-phase evaluation process encompassing detailed inspections of airport infrastructure, airside and landside operations, safety management systems, emergency preparedness, and personnel training. "The certification of Akanu Ibiam International Airport is a testament to the collaborative efforts between the regulator and the operator. It demonstrates that Nigeria is on track in meeting international aviation safety benchmarks," he said. He also commended FAAN for its professionalism and sustained cooperation throughout the certification process, describing such collaboration as essential to maintaining consistent safety standards across Nigeria's airports. Speaking on behalf of the Managing Director of FAAN, Olubunmi Kuku, the Director of Commercial and Business Development, Adebola Agunbiade, said the certification is a win for the country's aviation sector and acknowledged the contributions of NCAA officials, FAAN technical teams, and other industry stakeholders whose expertise helped deliver a successful outcome. "This certification is not an end, but a new phase of continuous improvement. We are committed to sustaining global standards and enhancing passenger experience across all our airports," she stated. Reacting, the Commissioner for Transport, Enugu State, Obi Ozor, described the certification as a boost for the Dr. Peter Mbah administration's vision to grow the state from a $4.4 billion to a $30 billion economy and the target to make Enugu a major aviation hub. Ozor commended NCAA for its professionalism and stringent certification, saying the development would boost the credibility of the airport in the eyes of international airlines and aviation bodies while also positioning it to attract new international routes. Meanwhile, an Aerodrome Certificate is an official licence issued by the NCAA that confirms an airport meets all the required safety, operational, and infrastructure standards to legally receive aircraft and passengers. It is required under ICAO Annex 14, which sets the global standards for aerodrome design, operations, and safety management. Without it, an airport cannot be recognised as being compliant with international aviation law. The certification is viewed as a new dawn for AIIA, Enugu as it gets its first-ever international certification from NCAA and ICAO. Founded fifty years ago, this airport has seen continued improvement. The recent concession arrangement of the airport has already begun to bear fruit. The airport has, over the past few weeks, seen major uplift in its infrastructure, including new CCTV installations, complete security perimeter fencing, signs and signages, firefighting vehicles, among others, leading to this new certification. This new dawn prepares the airport for extensive commercial expansion by the concessionaire, who envisions handling close to 10 international flights in the near future, as wide-body aircraft such as the Boeing 747 can now land at the airport.

@Dzungie007 It's not common sense. Entitlement has never given anyone employment. If u want a job, it shouldn't be given to u because you are a South African. You must show you desire the job and that you are committed to doing it. Leave that mentality and start educating people to workhard

I'm not anti-immigrant. I'm pro-South African youth. A 22-year-old from Soweto or Mitchells Plain with a matric certificate deserves that cashier, waiter, or cleaner job before anyone else. Reserve entry level for citizens. That's not hate. That's common sense

Chairing INEC is one of the most uncomfortable jobs in the Country.Whoever found himself on that Seat will have to receive missiles from the beginning to the end. From Fedeco,NEC to INEC,the story is thesame.Though forgotten,Prof Maurice Iwu received more insults than any INEC chair in our history. When Jega declared GEJ the winner in 2011,he was declared an enemy and a Satan in the North:When he declared Buhari the winner in 2015,everyone in our region sang his praises.Prof Mahmud is now resting,Amupitan is now the punchbag. The only person in our country who has ever agreed he lost election was GEJ.Our politics is that of you either win or you fight. That is what we are.Appoint an Angel as INEC Chair,he can only be safe in the hands of those who won.

@AfricaisBlack Your problem is you want to dictate on the strategy that must be used by South Africans in first the illegal immigration enemy. If they want to start by deporting the foreign tenants, let them do so. Then they will come for the local landlords as second phase of this revolution.

South Africans own the buildings ✅ South Africans register the businesses ✅ South Africans collect the rent ✅ South Africans pocket the lease profits ✅ South Africans choose to rent to foreigners ✅ But the foreigner behind the counter is the problem? 😂 South Africans are the landlords, registrars, and bankers in this arrangement, then we're not victims of foreigners, we're their enablers. The real conversation isn't “foreigners must go”it's “why are South Africans renting out their own economy instead of running it?”

March and March has been having peaceful protests for the longest time. They have never burnt vehicles or caused any destruction yet they have been mischaracterised as vigilantes. What’s happening ku Gompo is clearly criminal elements that want to cause havoc and blame the peaceful demonstration in order to taint the genuine concerns of illegal immigration in SA. This also exposes the lack of State capacity as public order policing is failing just like Home Affairs has failed to manage illegal immigration in the country.
