It's Day 2 of the Design charrette! Arch. Denniss Mukuba, Urbanist and Norman Foster Institute alumnus, together with AAK President Arch. George Arabbu, joined participants at the ongoing Design Charrette at the ASK Showground, to support and guide the teams that are collaboratively developing pavilion concepts at the grounds. The charrette has now moved from ideas and strategy into active design development, with participants beginning to shape innovative, context-responsive solutions inspired by the Biennale theme, “Shifting the Center – From Fragility to Resilience.”

@arabbu @ckanjama @Arch_KE Ahsante Rais. This position is supported by not only the built environment but all other professions. Resolving disputes isn’t all about litigation. Our good brothers in the legal profession can do their thing in Court without the pushing the Court into other forms of ADR

@ckanjama We at @Arch_KE are paying attention to this bearing in mind: 1. The Constitution encourages ADR to make justice accessible, 2. "Legal Interpretation" is often secondary to "Technical Fact-Finding." 3. A collaborative ecosystem between built environment and legal is key .

LSK takes very seriously the concerns of its members about gradual encroachment into the legal practice space by non-lawyers, contrary to the provisions of art.46 Katiba read together with the Advocates Act. We are reviewing the efficacy of the Court Annexed Mediation scheme, and recognise, as a component of party autonomy, the right of litigants & their lawyers to indicate the preferred or required qualifications of the Mediator appointed to deal with their dispute, including through requiring Advocate-Mediators for any matter requiring knowledge or interpretation of the law in the course of the mediation. LSK will shortly issue a Position Paper on the matter and thereafter Practice Guidance to its members on the question of mediation. We also draw attention of the public to the Advocates Act which restricts the practice of law to duly qualified Advocates. We recognise in the same way that other professional laws equally restrict practice of those other professions to persons skilled qualified & regulated in each respective field. #TimeIsRIPE #StrongLSKForAll @Kenyajudiciary @lawso

The battle against none Advocate Mediators has been won because of unity by Advocates. Accordingly, @LawSocietyofKe and President @ckanjama should communicate this position to the @Kenyajudiciary and @CJMarthaKoome. The Judiciary should thereafter, proceed to revoke the accreditation of all none Advocate Mediators in the Court Annexed Mediation Program. Advocates should ensure compliance by rejecting any none Advocate Mediator to handle legal disputes referred to mediation.

On 14th April 2026, AAK participated in the Africa Carbon Removal Summit 2026 #ACRS2026, convened by the Kühne Climate Center (KCC), Carbon Removal Kenya (CRK), and the Africa Carbon Removal Accelerator (ACRA) at the Pullman Nairobi Upper Hill hotel. Themed “Policy, Capital and Integrity,” the summit explored the enabling conditions required to deploy carbon removal responsibly and credibly in Kenya and across Africa. Discussions unpacked how carbon removal works, key methods, the current state of the sector in Kenya and the continent, associated challenges, and the suitability of Kenya and Africa for carbon removal, through panel discussions with industry experts. The event also featured the announcement of ACRA’s second cohort, designed to support African Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) startups. Ambassador Ali Mohamed @ClimateEnvoyKe, Special Envoy for Climate Change in the Office of the President, delivered a keynote address highlighting Kenya’s strong potential in CDR, noting that the country hosts approximately 80% of Africa’s CDR startups. The session concluded with a call to scale CDR across the continent through innovative business models and blended finance to unlock bankable projects, despite Africa receiving a relatively small share of global climate finance, only about 3% - 4% (approximately USD 44 billion) in 2021–2022. #CarbonRemoval #ClimateAction #ClimateFinance

Ministry of Info, Comms & The Digital Economy KE
Digitizing development control is not just about technology; it is about creating functional cities, improving quality of life, and unlocking economic growth. Earlier today, at the Ministry Headquarters, the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy H.E, Hon. William Kabogo Gitau, EGH, met with a delegation from the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK), led by their President, George Ndege. They shared a proposed plan to transform Kenya’s urban development sector through a unified digital system aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and service delivery. The proposed system will centralize processes such as land approvals, building permits, inspections, and compliance monitoring. By leveraging technology, the government aims to ensure that applications are processed within defined timelines, with clear approvals or rejections issued promptly. If successfully implemented, the initiative is expected to position Kenya as a regional leader in digital governance while significantly enhancing the ease of doing business in the construction and real estate sectors. With more than half of Kenya’s population projected to be living in urban areas within the next few years, the proposal comes at a critical time. The Cabinet Secretary assured them of the Ministry's support, in coordination with other government agencies, to ensure that the bold plan comes to fruition. In attendance was Brenda Nyawara, Vice President of AAK, among other senior government and AAK officials.

@BrendaNyawara I am willing to bet that private cars are the main culprits in Nairobi’s traffic snarls. Sundays are generally free-flowing, yet matatus don’t take a break.

I then asked Grok, Kimi and ChatGPT to rethink their results using Gemini's output. Grok simply enhanced the image, Kimi kept coding and an unclickable link to download its final output, ChatGPT gave a pretty good concession speech and the win to Gemini and created infographics.
