If we can acknowledge salty, sweet, sour, bitter & umami as flavors, why can't we add ammonia to that list? It's found in foods like Swedish/Finnish Salmiak (salty liquorice) and Icelandic Hakarl (fermented shark). Having tried both, the experience is uniquely indescribably.

Trying a new (to me) #hotsauce The main ingredient is kimchi extract, which seems to be all the ingredients of kimchi. I love the funkiness in the flavor. The heat is mild and simple, much like Frank's Red Hot or Louisiana Hot Sauce.

Last year's Easter Feast (my family always had lamb). I find that a nice chimichurri is a great accompaniment to the fatty lamb (which I season with rosemary, garlic, and lemongrass). Massive pita bread loaves from the local Middle Eastern market (m.facebook.com/profile.php/?i…)

@BillAckman has proposed multiple defenses for @NeriOxman What he hasn't denied is that she has engaged in #plagiarism multiple times His excuse is that it is limited and unintentional. So, I propose a question: How much plagiarism is allowable? What percentage of a whole?

Made Hoppin' John for #NewYears I didn't go super traditional. I substituted andouille for pork and added extra veggies. It was still a hit. My 6-year-old niece kept trying to eat all the andouille

@JacquelynGill I agree, I'm thankful that my organic chemistry professor was generous when it came to grading, she always offered multiple methods of improving your grades. I value what I learned there, because, even though today I am terrible at chemistry, the building blocks are there.

@PalyJen @kif213 Late response, but I encountered something similar during my undergraduate thesis. It was macrofossils from an ancient kettle lake in southern Michigan. At the time I logged it as unknown seed, turned out to be freshwater shrimp eggs.

There is lots of news of an imminent volcanic eruption in Iceland. Nobody has bothered to list the name of the volcano. It is from a region called #Fagradalsfjall. I don't know if that will be what the eruption is called, but it's got real #Eyjafjallajökull vibes.

Excited for Hatch chile season again. I missed last year but made a really great hot sauce two years ago. Thankfully I won't have to wait for this batch to ferment before I can enjoy it. I thought it was all gone but just found a huge container of it in the freezer.

You ever notice how we use English differently when typing up #familyrecipes. We drop all articles, like we're old Russian mafia hitmen. "Put dough in oven and bake until done," This has to be a holdover from when recipes were written on tiny cards with limited space Right?
