At the time most of what he was trying were available at local hardware stores. A lot of the substances are highly flammable and evaporate rapidly.

@MatthewJ_Pound @passle We can see a lot of the parasites in #palynology preps, too! I’ll never forget the human coprolite study done in @TAMUPollenLab when I was a student. The unacetolysed “kerogen” slides were great - cysts, worms, flukes - oh my!
