Escalating Violence Against Women in Iran: The Tragic Case of Arezoo Badri and Other Victims #ArezooBadri, a 31-year-old mother of two, has been left paralyzed after being shot by forces of the Islamic Republic in Iran over an alleged violation of hijab rules. On July 22, while driving home with her sister in the northern city of Noor, police officers attempted to pull her over to confiscate her car, which had been flagged for supposed hijab law violations. According to sources who spoke with the BBC, the officers first shot at the car’s tire before directly targeting Ms. Badri, shooting her in the lung and severely damaging her spinal cord. Ms. Badri was initially treated in a hospital in Noor, then transferred to Sari for lung surgery, and eventually moved to Tehran, where the bullet was removed ten days later. She is currently in the intensive care unit of the police-controlled Vali-e-Asr Hospital in Tehran, under tight security. This tragic incident echoes the heartbreaking case of Armita Garavand, a 16-year-old schoolgirl who died after an altercation with the morality police left her in a coma. Ms. Badri's case, like Armita's and Jina #MahsaAmini’s, raises serious concerns about the regime’s treatment of Iranians. Additionally, recent footage has surfaced of a 14-year-old girl being violently assaulted by hijab enforcement officers in Tehran. These incidents, along with the shocking video from August 13 showing a man brutally attacking a woman inside her car, indeed underscore the regime’s harsh and often brutal methods of enforcing Sharia law. They reflect a broader disregard for human rights and individual autonomy. The Islamic Republic is a dogmatic Islamist cult.
