Then with the peace dividend, too many successfully made the case to divert funds elsewhere, all the way to bloat.

When the British Army has 3 heavy divisions; The Royal Navy >40 warships and at least 14 attack subs and 2 fully equipped carriers; The RAF at least 300 combat aircraft plus full complement of supports; A defence industrial base capable of surviving war…. Then we can start telling others to buckle up, and threaten our foes.
