The @NYSDEC has sadly turned into a bureaucratic and authoritarian watchdog agency that does not resemble the DEC of pre 2019 whatsoever. What happened in 2019? Foreign renewable corporations lobbied Albany politicians and Cuomo to pass the Climate Act. The Climate Act created a "hysterical problem" that we had to address by "cutting emissions." It laid the groundwork for ORES. They took reliable power generation offline to create the "hysterical problem" they told us all to fear. Then they peddled the solution in the form of Chinese-made PFAS-coated solar panels. The DEC was told to "stand down" at the direction of ORES. How do I know this? Back in October 2025, I called the DEC. I spoke a person high-up there. I keep his identity anonymous for his safety. He told me that the "DEC has been told to stand down at the direction of ORES and that many at the agency are not happy with what they (ORES) are doing to the environment either." I made my first few posts about ORES. The DEC stopped responding to me shortly thereafter. But I heard what I needed to hear. Now, we have a wind turbine saleswoman from the Biden administration, Amanda Lefton, leading the state's entire environmental body. What she is allowing to occur to our wildlife and habitats is beyond demonic. There needs to be accountability here. She has broken every element of her oath of office, and now, oversees even more regulatory/bureaucratic development that further insulates these turncoats from public scrutinity. And they do it all with our tax dollars. Disgusting.

Mismanaging its forests isn't the only thing the Canadian government is up to north of us here in Upstate NY. The sitting prime minister, @MarkJCarney, has present ties to Brookfield Asset Management, which will now own Fort Edward Solar and other solar industrial complexes in New York State. Why? Boralex is being acquired by Brookfield. They are currently asking ORES, as we speak, to allow them to "transfer their solar leases without further review to Brookfield." They are also asking that ORES "do it quickly." @USDA prime farmland, grassland habitats, water sources, and endangered species are locked up in these ORES permits. They will transfer to a multinational Canadian corporation that Carney has been caught, by the Canadian Parliament, still working in a decision-making role. He has been brought before the Canadian Parliament and questioned about the conflicts of interest with Brookfield Asset Management. Don't believe me? Google it! Now we have a multinational Canadian corporation, manipulated behind-the-scenes by Canada's PM, that will have access to our best resources in New York State. Canada is not a "peaceful" neighbor to the North. If they can't manage their forests, I suggest the U.S. offer our forest services in exchange for free energy (thanks to the moronic politicians that took reliable power offline in NY to satisfy the 2019 Climate Act) and the cancelation of renewable detention centers on USDA prime soil. (Note: I am commenting on the Canadian government... not the citizens of Canada.)

Canada is doing more than mismanaging forests. Boralex and Brookfield Asset Management, which Mark Carney still has ties to as PM, are leasing out prime farmland, wetlands, and water sources in New York State under the guise of “green energy.” Here in Fort Edward, NY, Boralex has over 1,500 acres of designated and imperiled grassland habitat locked into a final permit for a solar complex. The leases are for 30+ years with options to extend. Why is Canada acquiring USDA prime farmland in New York State? Our neighbor to the north needs greater scrutiny. And fast!

Another summer of Upstate NY being smoked out by Canada’s (purposeful) mismanagement of its forests. I believe the U.S. should fine Canada for causing this bad of air quality. My stepfather (marine veteran) can’t go outside today or catch his breath. And the poor animals. Not minimizing the trauma of those near the fire, but rather, advocating for a discussion on how to stop this from happening every summer. There are many ways to responsibly manage forests.

When I decided one day in 2023 that I was going to teach myself how to farm and garden with zero background in growing plants whatsoever, it felt overwhelming. It still feels overwhelming most days. I started reading as many books as I could. Most of them made everything feel even more complicated. And then one day in 2025 I sat in for Martha Stewart’s talk she gave in NYC. It changed me. She spoke about how it takes a lifetime to become a master gardener or farmer. Don’t rush it. Focus on one or two things you get very, very good at in a grow season. Save the rest for the next year. After that talk, I started to have fun with learning the art of farming. I think about that talk a lot. I read her entire gardening handbook. It’s the only book I use now at my own farm. Getting to tell her about my small farm yesterday was amazing. But getting to tour her gardening empire was even cooler. Here are some pics and videos from her estate. I adore how well she takes care of her animals. The second I see someone care for animals in that way, I know I am going to like them.
