Did you know Lea Bridge Road started in 1745 as a simple timber bridge over the River Lea? Travellers back then paid a toll at a small house to cross. By 1820, the wooden bridge was replaced with iron, and the road became a key route linking Hackney, Walthamstow, and Leyton.
