I recently did a post comparing the AIM-260 to the PL-15 and got absolutely slammed in the comments. People were quick to point out that the PL-15 is no longer the latest Chinese hardware and that the PL-16 is what I should actually be worried about. Fair enough. The era of Chinese PL-15 range dominance is coming to a close. The highly secretive AIM-260 Joint Advanced Tactical Missile (JATM) has just broken cover. A live round was photographed on a VX-31 F/A-18F at Eglin AFB on May 13, 2026. The JATM is the first American AAM designed with 5th-gen stealth bays in mind.
