The crypto market structure bill has PASSED the Senate Banking Committee with a bi-partisan vote! Historic day for crypto and for the future of digital assets in America. Grateful for the countless hours from lawmakers and staff to strengthen this legislation. Big improvement from where we were in January on rewards, tokenization, DeFi, and CFTC authority. I'm proud we stood up for our customers in that moment, and the bill is better because of it. Looking forward to a bipartisan law that cements the US as the world's crypto capital. Let's get CLARITY done.

Landlord protections and eviction laws vary a lot across Europe, and it’s more complicated than “one month unpaid = immediate police eviction.” In many EU countries, landlords do have stronger rights than in the UK, especially around non-payment of rent. But even there, tenants usually still have legal protections and due process. Police normally cannot remove someone instantly without a court order or formal eviction process. For example: In some countries like the Netherlands or Germany, landlords can start eviction proceedings relatively quickly for persistent non-payment, but courts are still involved. In France and Spain, eviction can actually take a long time because tenant protections are stronger. In parts of Eastern Europe, processes may be faster, but legal notice periods still apply. In the UK, eviction for rent arrears often takes months because landlords must follow statutory notice rules and court procedures. The reason governments protect tenants is to prevent: sudden homelessness, illegal evictions, abuse by landlords, families being removed without notice. At the same time, many landlords argue the current system is unfair when tenants stop paying rent but remain in the property for months while the landlord still pays mortgages, maintenance, insurance, and taxes. So the real policy debate is usually about balance: protecting tenants from unfair removal, while also protecting landlords from long-term non-payment and property misuse. A lot of countries are currently debating reforms because housing shortages and rising rents are putting pressure on both sides.

@GOVUK What about Lanford rights? Our Tennant owed us £22k. We had to take her to court twice to get her to leave. Cost us a fortune to put the house right to sell it. It’s not worth it as landlords have no help

COINBASE ACTIVATES XRP FUTURES TRADE AT SETTLEMENT ON MAY 1, PUTS XRP ON SAME FOOTING AS BTC AND ETH @coinbase filed with the CFTC to activate Trade at Settlement (TAS) for XRP futures on May 1, covering both nano XRP and full-sized contracts. TAS lets institutional block traders execute large orders at the official daily settlement price rather than fighting live intraday prices. It's a standard tool in traditional commodity futures markets. The move puts XRP on the same TAS footing as Bitcoin, Ethereum, gold, and crude oil on Coinbase Derivatives. It comes after ripple:native was classified as a digital commodity in March under the joint SEC-CFTC framework, and as Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse joined the CFTC's Innovation Advisory Committee.
