@_OlivierGiroud_ @jacksonirvine_ Giroud always a Gentleman! 👏 At no point does he tell Cummings that he doesn't speak English. If you watch the replay...first he tells Mitch Duke he is already swapping (points to Jackson). Then, as he shakes hands with Cummings, he says .. "Good Match" Champion Mate! 👍🇦🇺🇫🇷

Yes. Japan are better by any barometer. Squad full of players from top clubs in high level leagues some of whom didn’t even start yesterday. Honesty required.
Kev Mac@TheRealKevinMac

@RaeComm Are Japan really better than Scotland or is that just negative thinking. Their captain has been honkin for Celtic, we have McTominay - nominated for Ballon D’Or, McGinn captaining a top 5 PL team.

@BradPope20 @AliG040803 That's not in dispute... yes, Japan may be ahead structurally, but saying we’ll “never compete” is nonsense. With smart coaching, elite sports science, and physical/psychological preparation, Australia can and will still win games in the future.

One of the World Cup's most extraordinary stories has landed in Australia - this is what you need to know 🏆⚽️🇨🇼 On Tuesday night, the Socceroos go up against a nation that has 6x less people than we have footballers. They've got multiple players with Premier League experience and they are ready to surprise. Full story: tinyurl.com/4ksdb5f6

@AliG040803 @Ryan_Melvin15 Relatively speaking I dont think Japan today are better than 20 yrs ago The side Australia beat in 06 had players like Nakata, Nakamura, Ono etc ..that team likely beats todays The system may look deeper & more imposing but at the end of the day we have advantages that neutralise

@AriBrisbane @Ryan_Melvin15 Look I love the positivity. But Australia can't just sit on its ass and pray to be "good on its day", while Japan progress towards being on the level of top European sides. If the gap between us increases then it just makes it harder for us to be 'good on our day' against them.

@Socceroos @MCG Its a great goal no-doubt. But the fact is it wasn't good enough to impress Socceroos boss Guss Hiddink. Skoko never played a single minute at the World Cup. One of the greatest injustices in Socceroos history! NO DOUBT Josip would trade that goal to play in Germany!

@AliG040803 @Ryan_Melvin15 Yes, Japan is technically sharper, invests heavily, treats football as a core sport etc. But writing off Australia long-term is a mistake. We don't need to be better every week...just better on the day. And in international football, thats always enough to keep the rivalry alive!

@Ryan_Melvin15 @AriBrisbane Exactly this. Japan's footballing culture is one of continuous drive investment at the youth level, and that cultivates a winning mentality that we see across all teams. Australian football has a long way to go both on and off the field.

@AriBrisbane @AliG040803 Japan has beaten Australia 9 times in the last 25 years, Australia has only won three times lol. In the last 15 years, Australia only won once - that was June last year. They have beaten Australia 6 times in those 15 years and drawn 4 times.

@DanielGarb Tony Popovic won’t lose a second worrying about any USA result...nor should he. This is all about the Socceroos taking care of their own business. Keep it in perspective, against Curaçao its not just about winning...it’s about making a statement. Minimum standard? A ruthless 5–0

Tiger Woods wasn't drunk, but high as a kite at his 2017 DUI. He skated on a test at the LA crash that could've killed him. He blew .000 today, but refused a urine test. The toll of 16 surgeries is written in his bloated face. He needs honesty & rehab; next time may not be lucky.

@TourSwingsTommy When i was a kid i use to try and imitate Seve's swing. In my mind i would pretend to swing just like him. Thinking back on it now ...I wonder if Seve ever tried to model his swing on any one in particular??? Snead perhaps???

One of my favorite clips of Seve. I could sit and watch him hit simple iron shots like this for hours.

@scout_aussie I thought Juric's performance made an absolute statement about the status quo! It underlines Popa when he says he doesn't hand out "The SOCCEROOS Jersey" to any "Tom Dick or Harry" playing park football in Europe. The local A-League boys should be really encouraged by this fact!

Some thoughts on Australia’s win over Cameroon: - Lucas Herrington (2007) was impressive and completely comfortable playing senior international football. Shouldn’t surprise those who have watched him closely. - Jacob Italiano was excellent, just about Australia’s best. He has taken his career-best club form to international level, which is great news for Australia. Expect him to find a club move soon. - The midfield pairing didn’t work in possession. Okon-Engstler and Yazbek made positive differences. - Australia’s defensive discipline is very good and they choked Cameroon in defensive transition. Very positive.
