🚀 Every ballistic capability starts with a demonstration. Discover for the first time the firing video of the ballistic munition FLP-t developed by ArianeGroup and @thalesgroup! The successful test in May with the support from the Missile Testing Division of the French Defense Procurement Agency (DGA) confirmed much more than the performance of a new rocket that represents the upper echelon of artillery systems with a range of 150 km. It marked a first building block for a new conventional ballistic strike capability that addresses a broad range of operational requirements in an evolving strategic context. Developed in less than 18 months for the versatile and interoperable Thales X-Fire launcher, the rocket munition validated ArianeGroup's ability to rapidly design, build and fly a new sovereign ballistic system while demonstrating the accuracy and reliability of its technologies The test has underscored both ArianeGroup’s ability to master the physics of long range flights with high altitude ballistic trajectories and our industrial expertise, paving the way for the B-Strike line-up that encompasses ballistic missiles ranging up to 2500 km. What makes a ballistic system… ballistic? A ballistic system leaves the atmosphere within moments, accelerates to extremely high speeds, and re-enters into the atmosphere, undergoes high thermal and mechanical stress and reaches precisely its objective on a previously calculated trajectory. This flight profile combines speed, altitude and precision to deliver long-range capabilities while following a trajectory calculated in a few minutes before launch. ExoMars: heat shield enters integration phase The European ExoMars Rosalind Franklin Mission has reached another major milestone at ArianeGroup’s Issac site with the arrival of the Martian capsule’s Front Shield structure. Following a successful vibration test campaign designed to validate its mechanical resistance to the stresses of launch and the journey to Mars, the Front Shield has now entered the integration clean room. Teams have begun installing the Norcoat® Liège HPK space-grade cork thermal protection system, a material qualified by ArianeGroup to withstand the extreme conditions of Martian atmospheric entry. A key element of the mission, this heat shield will protect the Rosalind Franklin rover during its entry into the Martian atmosphere, when the capsule will reach speeds of nearly 21,000 km/h and temperatures of up to 1,800°C. With this new industrial phase, ArianeGroup teams continue to contribute to one of Europe’s most ambitious Mars exploration missions. ExoMars overall Program is led by @Thales_Alenia_S Italia (TAS-I) for the @esa. The Rosalind Franklin rover, developed by @Thales_Alenia_S Italy and Airbus Defence and Space UK, will search for signs of past or present life on Mars, notably using a drill capable of extracting samples from up to two metres below the surface. #RocketMakers #SpaceIndustry #Civil #Innovation
