I'd also really like to see @AlwynFJH write a whole series of fairy tale retellings set in the world of Rebel of the Sands. Pre-trilogy, post-trilogy, short, long—just yes please. The magic, the culture, the potential, mmmmHMMM.

@WRGingell I thought the books had marginally better characterization and some better consistency but personally couldn’t stand the writing, all due respect to Ms. Quinn. Also still lots of sex, fair warning.

@ArielleMBailey i'm informed that the books are much better, and i can only say i would weep BUCKETS if my City Between series were turned into this kind of mess instead of the glorious thing i would have imagined for it, so i feel for the author

tried REALLY hard to watch Bridgerton (even ffwd through two sex scenes) but it was SO BAD you blokes
honestly like watching the worst fan-fiction i've read, level of bad. flat characters doing/saying things b/c the author said NOW KISS
+ EVERYONE saying "shall" a million times

@WRGingell Anthony’s character had some of the most inconsistent characterization and that’s saying something in that show.

@ArielleMBailey see, i saw and applauded that (especially the mum fighting back kinda graciously about it) but then i wasn't sure b/c of the sex scenes whether it was meant as incestuous or not
also, very much flashbacks to how some people (men) in circles i came from long ago also act/think

@WRGingell They were accidental and are, I suspect, the result of trying to get the guy to act the part of an overly protective older brother from the books as well as a stereotypically ‘historical horribly oppressive male’ the writers wanted.

i also want to know if the totally incestuous vibes from the older brother were done on purpose or are just an awful result of dreadful writing and ridiculous characterisation

@rosamundhodge I have to confess to being in the same camp as @suzannahtweets - I already had it in my head as a given. Like: ‘I’m doing Driver as Hades’s /son/ and Rosamund is doing Driver AS Hades himself in a Hades/Persephone/what Kylo should have been’. 😆 Either way: GIVE ME.
