It doesn't matter to him that the Pope is truthfully espousing the lessons of the New Testament. All that he sees is someone challenging him and so he attacks. It's notable, although not surprising, that Omar is speaking out in defense of the Christian faith while so many Republicans remain silent. Conservatives regularly smear her for her Islamic beliefs and accuse her of not truly belonging in the United States.
