What an incredible team effort! 💪🍴 Over the past two weeks, the hardworking chefs of 1MERC BG have been in action during EXERCISE IRON CYCLONE, feeding troops undergoing PDT at Copehill Down Village. Battling strong winds, freezing temperatures, and wet conditions, they still managed to deliver meals that lifted spirits and kept morale high. 🌟👏 From 1Mercians to 1RW, KRH, 4RLC, 2MED, 4REME, and 26RE, every chef brought their A-game, earning well-deserved compliments from all ranks. 🙌 A true testament to their resilience and dedication! To wrap up 2024, the chefs at Picton Barracks celebrated with a festive Christmas Lunch 🎄, a delicious spread, and Secret Santa fun 🎅🏾🎁. However, it’s also time to bid farewell to two valued team members: Cpl Lucas (posted to QDG) and Pte Boadi (transferred to RAMC). 🎖️ Cpl Prince from The Queen’s Royal Hussars Shines on Ex HIGHLAND HUSSARS! 🍽️ Cpl Prince, from our Catering Department, had an incredible week on Island Ark during Ex HIGHLAND HUSSARS. Not only did he feed 20 officers, but he also had the thrilling experience of stalking – and bagged his very first stag! 🦌 That wasn’t all… he took his culinary skills to the next level by preparing delicious meals using game meats like partridge, pheasant, venison, and pigeon, along with locally-sourced vegetables and fruit. 🌿🍇 Cpl Prince even showcased his expert butchery skills, breaking down whole stags and demonstrating the exceptional capabilities of military chefs in action. 🚴‍♂️ Shoutout to SSgt ‘Jock’ Bisset, who’s been tearing up the road cycling scene since catching the bug in 2020! What started as a way to stay fit during the pandemic on the Zwift platform has turned into a serious competitive passion. 🌍 From racing virtually with cyclists around the world to now dominating Army Cycling Road Races, Jock has represented the Corps since 2021. Whether he’s cycling through the hills of Scotland, Wales, Yorkshire, or Suffolk, he’s racking up an impressive 4000 km a year! And it’s not just about the races—SSgt Bisset is all about giving back to the cycling community. After becoming a British Cycling Level 2 Leader this year, he’s helping to plan the RLC Corps Championships and will lead Ex LOG RIDE 24 in October. With his relentless dedication and passion for developing new talent, SSgt Bisset is a true inspiration and a deserving nominee for RLC Colours.
