That's because you've been intellectually lazy and I'm not limited to a number of characters. I love to be able to type as much as I want. Besides the more responses I have past 280 characters, the closer I am to an account that I get paid to respond to idiots. It's one of the prerequisites. They could care less about it being a great thing to the nation, the people, or the 250 years of history it represents. You said you value personal/family possessions. So yes, you are unable to value a monument, it's unable to be in your personal possession to show off. I don't care about material possessions. I got my things thrown out every time I moved every 2-4 years during my entire upbringing from birth. I learned to value more meaningful things. I did my research and bettered myself. Another topic I have learned more about for the next time. I love researching and seeking out facts and the truth. It gives me comfort. The modern left can't do that.If your values align with the left then you should be supporting leftist platforms instead. Oh and the monument isn't blocking anything. There were plans pre-9/11 to put something else there, then terrorism happened, they cancelled it and nobody tried to build anything there until now for our 250 anniversary. So even if it wasn't this monument, it would of been another one in the exact same place at some point. That argument isn't valid. Something was going to be placed there eventually taking up the same exact space.

It's full of historical reference. It completely has benefit as a national memorial of our history and to honor our veterans on this 250 year milestone of our history. This country does big things to honor/commemorate large anniversaries. You probably weren't around in 1976. That's fine. Maybe research that a bit. 250 is a very big deal to our nation. Arches signify military sacrifice and victory. They've been used since biblical times, if not before. Cities across the world have them. It's being built to commemorate our 250 year anniversary and History of our country. It's going to be built 1 foot high for each year since 1776. The arch's historical significance stems from its role as a modern marker of America's 250 year journey, as a celebration of liberty, sacrifice, and national achievement. The arch would stand on Columbia Island (near Memorial Circle), at the western end of the Arlington Memorial Bridge, positioned between Arlington National Cemetery and the Lincoln Memorial. Placing it there honors our fallen heroes throughout our history. As an "Army Brat"? you should be proud of this. I have a similar background as you (if that's true) and I love our fallen veterans being honored. Are you a brat that only ever lived in the U.S.? It might explain some things. Anyhow, back to more references of national values that you say doesn't exist in this building that you seemingly know nothing about. The central figure is Lady Liberty with angle's wings who symbolizes freedom. Two Eagles on each side also represents freedom, independence, strength, courage, and vigilance. It's our national emblem and national bird and represents the spirit of American democracy and the ideals of liberty outlined in the Declaration of Independence. The 4 lions at the 4 corners of the base represent strength, courage, power, majesty, and guardianship. It is to resemble the idea of the American experiment being firmly grounded in enduring power and resilience. Saying it has no historical significance, and that the 250 year anniversary of our history of our nation, isn't something historical, isn't true. It sounds like you don't like our country having something nice to honor our history. You seem to be proving my original point. Maybe you'd support something with sickle and hammers, a destroyed DC, with Antifa flags flying above it and graffiti of curse words and fists? The younger generations seem to value these symbols these days.The U.S. flag is racist and bigoted and a fascist symbol and always has been, right? It's an honest question. We have no right to be here and it belongs to natives, and 100% of all others should leave to someplace in their DNA test? As a Catholic, I don't buy that @realDonaldTrump is dividing most Catholics at least in this country. Quite the opposite in fact. They agree with him because most American Cathloics hate that the church has become politically progressive, obsequoous to the left and at times openly Marxist. The Pope-who is American--is literally suggesting that we should turn a blind eye to the murderous mullahs, and the American taxpayer should subsidize the world's poor through open borders.
