I think it's generated this weird fear in young people that all moments have to be saved and archived, or else those moments didn't have meaning. It's why so many lost media are weirdly specific, like "Lost: cam recording showing the audience reaction to Delgo in the theatre"

I think you could write an essay about how the massive influx of interest into lost media has happened in the last decade alongside the casual culture of documenting *everything* in our lives and saving it for a nebulous reason (smart phone culture, photo backups).
