@ArthurGnohere Arthur, you look like a toddler drew you with their left hand. Why would you speak about anyone’s looks?

I need Jamaica to focus on bringing back their film industry instead now. The football thing isn’t working out

All these - plus: Half and half scarves No paper ticket stubs No FA Cup replays Games lasting 110 minutes Every team requiring at least 3 kits a season Endless stats Far too big match programmes ...
Fans against VAR@FansAgainstVAR_

VAR Kick off times Shirt begging signs Players covering their mouths Ticket prices Tourists over real fans All seater stadiums No beer in view of the pitch Players making more in one week than fans male in a year There's honestly too much

Italy not qualifying for the World Cup is a shock then you remember that McTominay is basically Socrates reincarnated in the Serie A

@Layo_FH I’m a middle class football fan and have no idea what you’re talking about. Do you and these people from a podcast I’ve never heard of go to games often? Did you just start a few years ago.

I’ve written a blog about middle class hipsterdom and particularly the football hipster. Here are the shots I fired at one of my favourite podcasts.

@LemanWalters Okay, so why do you think that people get the impression that rightwing political commentators don’t particularly care for British culture? The examples you’ve given.

Herein lies the risk of post-Corbyn dark chungus leftism, that instead of co-opting Britishness into a wider project you just deny it exists or acquiesce to its abolishment as something people need to get over. Winning movements rarely say “put up with it” to their audience
KPMG dad@jenuflexion

None of these people can even name a single they even like thats uniquely british from the past 20 years lol. The actual 'culture' they want to defend is already dead and buried and they universally hate any new brit culture.

People are arguing against a position that no one is actually making. No one is saying a woman of Ghanaian heritage born in England is ethnically English. The argument is this: you can be civically English without being ethnically English. Take @estherckrakue and me. We both have Ghanaian surnames and neither of us are white. She is fully ethnically Ghanaian. I am half ethnically Ghanaian and half ethnically English. So I am ethnically and civically English. She is not ethnically English, but she is still civically English. That is the entire point people keep dodging. We both live here. We have both integrated. That makes us both English in a civic sense. The real disagreement is this: Some people want “English” to be ethnic only, and push everyone else into “British”. But the public does not think that way. Polling shows most people are comfortable calling black and brown Brits English in a civic sense. So what is this really about? Why are some people so determined to pretend civic English identity doesn’t exist?

Esther Krakue asks : What does it mean to be English? Do you agree with her?
