Has to be said, Argentina burned through a lot of good will this tournament. Between assaulting Spain players, drowning out the English anthem, and delivering a final display reminiscent of Paraguay vs. France...hard to see any neutrals cheering for them in 2030 with Messi gone.

Argentina is a mix - got a massive Jewish, Italian, German, “Mulatto”community.

Their only defeats at World Cups since 2002 were all to brilliant German, French and Spanish teams who all won the competition. No shame in that.
Certain folk were getting grouped by Costa Rica and losing to Croatia.

England is relevant as it’s the country that is most comparable to Argentina in terms of fan culture, population size and profile.

No issue with this as long as they scrap qualification.

But if England had been in the final the vast majority of neutrals would have backed France/Spain.
