At Walmart US he ran the 2016 program that pulled accounting and invoicing out of every store and erased 7,000 back office jobs. In 2018 Walmart outsourced its finance and accounting operations to Genpact, a firm with most of its workforce in India. Kroger announced a "Global Capability Center" on Foran's first earnings call. Investors were told it will "streamline decision-making" and modernize how the company operates. India was never mentioned. Consultant Brittain Ladd, citing people inside Kroger, reports the center is in Bangalore and the target is $500M a year in labor savings. At $87,500 saved per offshored role, that math works out to roughly 5,700 US jobs. A source close to the company confirms layoffs are coming and disputes only the size.
