@ArtlessTakedown My honest recommendation is do not do it. Magic is very complex, and having 60+ unique game pieces per deck at a 4 person table is overwhelming and not fun for newbies. Make 50 card piles of nothing but draft chaff from core sets and plenty of repeats. Nothing but basics.

I’m thinking about making 5 super basic introductory mono-color commander decks to introduce friends to the game/format. No funny business, no combos, nothing over-powered, and very balanced. Any recommendations for the 5 commanders?

@ArtlessTakedown @fragsterqg Oh yeah for sure I get that. I haven't played in years so I looked into selling my cards because I know how expensive the deck were. I figured why sit on all that value when someone else could play with the cards. But when I saw how big the loss was, I decided not to sell.

I don’t think destroying the card market, the LGSs and eventually WotC itself is the right solution. I’d probably put more emphasis on identifying counterfeits..

@RetiredPokemast @fragsterqg Otherwise you play to play. And if you decide to sell down the line, then wait for higher prices on those cards. But selling them individually is a pain of its own. No game store or online retailer is going to give 100 cents on the dollar - it would need to be private sale.

@RetiredPokemast @fragsterqg The reality with mtg is that you can expect anything that isn’t on the reserve list to get reprinted which will drop the value. If you’re into the cards purely for $ then you’re really only looking at reserve list cards and/or cards from the OG sets.

@fragsterqg @ArtlessTakedown I got flooded strand pre-pandemic for $46 it's now only a $20 card. That's a big hit. Delta was also $40 and is now $20. Maybe that's higher than 2020 prices but it's a big dip in value then they used to be.
