This mindset is so fucking stupid Matt was hired way before Gunn, he's delivered a far more succesful movie both commercially and especially critically. Gunn made the decision to have the DCU be fully lived in from the jump, he made the call to have it start so soon

I apologize to the Spider-Man fandom and anyone who is excited for Brand New Day. Just because I’m not excited something doesn’t mean I should have crapped on other people’s excitement. There’s enough awful shit going on in this world and people need some kind of hope and escapism and I hope the film turns out the way the fans want it to.
