“You may wonder why we feel the need to write about the impact of an event occurring in the broader legal system on our lives as physicians. The truth is, when we see Ketanji Brown Jackson we see ourselves.” pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35490340/

It’s really so frustrating to wake up to news of another mass shooting. Still we’re expected to continue life as normal. Where can we go that is safe in America?

Dr. Chaniece Wallace was a Pediatric Chief Resident at Indiana School of Medicine. She died in childbirth. In the US, maternal & infant mortality for Black Women & babies is ~3x that of non-Black women. Childbirth isn’t safe for Black Women in America. This is crushing.😞

Utter shock & sadness to lose one of our chief residents during childbirth this past weekend. Please consider donating to baby Charlotte & Anthony as they grieve the loss of a mother & wife in Dr. Chaniece Wallace. @Seventh_Wonder gofundme.com/f/charlotte-wa…

Trump just said no one in his rallies has had a “negative effect”. I guess Herman Cain doesn’t matter. Dead men can’t speak.

I just asked @DrPhillipsMD, Chief of Disaster Medicine at GW Emergency Medicine, what policy measure we could enact today to reduce the spread & mortality of COVID-19. His response: “A nationally mandated mask policy.” Take home: lets depoliticize the mask.

We began this journey with a passion to serve our community seeing first hand how so many black & brown people have been marginalized in our society. It’s no wonder we both chose EM. A field where we can see anyone who needs us. I’m so grateful for that decision. #MedTwitter #EM
