Mossgiel Organic Farm
Mossgiel Organic Farm@MossgielFarm·
BOVAER - what on earth it that, and are we using it? You might have heard about Bovaer—a feed additive designed to reduce methane emissions from cows. It's also slightly more interesting than that too - as it's going to be made just 20 miles from our own farm in Dalry, Ayrshire for export across the world. On the surface, it sounds like a game-changer for the planet, but here at Mossgiel it's not on the menu. At Mossgiel, we don’t just treat the symptoms of the problem; we look at the whole picture. Yes, methane emissions are a challenge, but rather than relying on additives, we focus on creating a system that works with nature. Here's why: All of the cows on all of the farms supplying Mossgiel live on and eat organic grass, just as nature intended. They graze on lush, organic pastures, free from chemical additives. We believe that healthy cows raised in harmony with the land are part of the solution—not just for emissions but for the soil, biodiversity, and the quality of your milk. On our own farm we feed seaweed too - which has shown to reduce methane naturally while boosting cow health through their immune system. Regenerative, Organic farming is our fix. Reducing methane isn’t just about what goes into the cow—it’s about what’s happening around her. By improving soil health, sequestering carbon, and promoting biodiversity, farmers are tackling emissions in a way that builds a better future for everyone. Transparency is our promise. Hey, anything that helps our climate issues is a positive to us - but humans have interrupted nature's flow before, and it's not worked out great. Big companies are trying to fix our issues with additives and UPFs when often, the answer is in our soil and in our whole foods. At Mossgiel, we’re committed to farming in a way that puts the planet, animals, and people first. Because in the end, we don’t just want to reduce emissions; we want to live in a world where farming is the solution, not the problem. Bovaer may be the solution of the future in a number of cases, and a large dairy are leading the research with a few UK farmers; but for now it's not for us. #Mossgiel #SustainableFarming #OrganicDairy

An observation…. When arable farmers who passionately defend the use of glyphosate against all sorts of irrational scare stories happily circulate all manner of posts relating to the current Arla/Bovaer situation, it looks a teeny bit hypocritical - farmers stick together pls

Supermarkets should be required by law to clearly label all meat and dairy products that come from suppliers using Bovaer® 10. Consumers should have a choice.

Bovaer 10 is a very toxic poison. Take a look at the officially released COSSH sheet, its all there - they think that we are all plebs and too stupid to look. Boycott any food with it in totally is my advice and above all ignore all of these wankers on the payroll telling you it is safe. They wont be eating it i can tell you. They tout it as safe cattle feed but if you eat it you need to call a poison center and "get medical attention immediately" - because it s a fucking poison Of particular note are the First Aid measures, listed to advise you of the best course of action if you are exposed this "safe and effective" feed. Hazard statements include H315 - Causes skin irritation. H318 - Causes serious eye damage. H361f - Suspected of damaging fertility. Take a look at the full sheet via the link here and be horrified. I dread to think what this does to these poor cattle, its fucking criminal. public.spheracloud.net/Pdf/MsdsIAImag…

As an only recently retired lawyer I feel duty bound to investigate whether #bovaer in the food chain from Tesco since July, without being labelled on products, is a consumer rights issue, given people would not have been aware of the chemical change ref the feed, & would have 1/

BOVAER Spent AGES in the dairy section of Sainsbury’s this morning, am amazed how many products are Arla! Can vouch for this milk, Graham’s Gold Smooth, no aftertaste at all and smells very fresh, the Country Life butter also tastes good. Hopefully avoided Bovaer with these!

You can rest assured that we will not be using the feed additive Bovaer, which is now being trialled by Arla dairy farms. Our milk and meat production is based on traditional, organic pasture and non-intensive farming methods. Nature knows what it's doing 🌱
