@Sage_Tega @kelxyz_ Feel free to DM me details on when/what happened. But this run has been very full so not everyone has been able to join. Future runs will have more capacity!

@brianryhuang Strong agree. LA and Seoul are weirdly and inexplicably almost the same city to me.

seoul immediately strikes me as feeling very american, like this is the most american that any city on the opposite side of the world has felt to me. it actually feels less vacation-like because of this lol

@jbrukh My biggest open question now is whether there are enough consumer GPUs to get to 1-10GW to enable a frontier model

Bunch of crypto people left for AI, just as we’re about to decentralize AI training. 🤣

@kelxyz_ Do you know if next training runs will have higher node capacity? Super hard to get in atm and provide compute

has anyone else noticed a massive influx of new daily followers starting in early march? did something change with the recommendation engine? i went from 100-200 a day to 1000-3000 new followers a day for no apparent reason.

Today we're releasing Agora: the first ever pretraining stack that allows non-collocated consumer GPUs to be competitive with centralized clusters Agora is 15x faster than Megatron-LM in this setting and is only 1.5x less efficient in terms of tokens per unit compute than TorchTitan on H100s, despite running on devices that have no NVLink or InfiniBand support.

Factored Gossip DiLoCo (by @ChaminHewa) has been accepted to ICML 2026. It removes the all-reduce required to compute the outer-optimiser step, improving robustness to failed nodes. In a collective training setting, this allows nodes to leave arbritarily with minimal impact.

I'm actually pretty open-minded about the anti-data-center populism. From everything I've seen from people working on this, reducing industrial-scale hardware availability seems to be both the most practical, and most non-dystopian / non-invasive way to lengthen AGI timelines. So if the movement that makes that happen starts out with anti-data-center populism, that seems fine? Of course you have to do things other than going after data centers located in populated areas to really make a dent on AGI timelines (my intuition is that 10-100x compute reduction is feasible in a "static" model of the world, and 100-10000x if you compare to a counterfactual that includes future chip design progress; those numbers *would* make a dent), but there is a first step for everything.

I would like to host an initiation dinner for select new Miami residents who I’ve never met. Absolutely no Brickell scene, no god forsaken Major Food Group restaurant. We are doing real Miami shit. Please tag in your favorite new residents and I will respond with details accordingly.

'13. Labs will not be allowed to “escape” to neutral jurisdictions. We are about to see a 10x in state power simply due to the fact that AI requires centralised, physical datacenters and these can be controlled in a way diffuse human knowledge work cannot.
Just Another Pod Guy@TMTLongShort

Important variables to consider when reading the Citrini post: 1. UBI all but guaranteed - debate will be on demand side with compute stipend vs universal basic services 2. US govt would aggressively move to ensure compute is US-centric and allows them to shift pain to ROW 3. Very likely robotics will be ramping by then which will soak-up recently fired knowledge workers to help build ramp 4. Credit markets are the bigger risk vs equities because potential for persistent deflation fuck debt calcs 5. Trump admin would deport 25m illegals before allowing knowledge worker migration to lower-end services turning into a deflationary wage spiral 6. Biotech and material science boom almost guaranteed by then driving spec capital and hiring 7. Out of every country on earth the American consumer is the richest, most resilient and most degenerate. If U.S. consumer is hurting the ROW is dead. 8. Datacenters will be bombed and molotov cocktailed long before things get that dire 9. Govt will be the lender of last resort to high FICO knowledge workers who got laid off 10. Cursor for Trades will be a thing and knowledge workers with AR glasses will be able to career shift far more easily than you would think 11. Disruption of incumbent knowledge workers will destroy demand for many of the denser urban pop centers and “fix” housing affordability crises as distributed work becomes a lot more acceptable …. Will also be a major wealth-effect issue into silver tsunami 12. Supply side taxation will become a thing. Tax on compute. Tax on electricity usage. Tax on racks. 13. Labs will not be allowed to “escape” to neutral jurisdictions. Go to Bahamas the U.S. will annex the Bahamas. This is too big to abide by international law. - just off the rip on first read 🫡

@nic_carter @TheStalwart Most Americans can’t afford very basic healthcare and already have a deep distrust for pharmaceutical and insurance companies. Drug discovery likely doesn’t even crack the average persons top 30 concerns wrt AI.

@TheStalwart Pretty self evident to me, objecting to increasing the pace of biotech and drug discovery by 100000x is naive at absolute best and evil at worst. Every single person objecting to AI knows someone who will die from a preventable disease.
