@McClellanOsc @thetrading @elonmusk Dude, just imagine standing on the Moon and looking up at the tiny Earth and the absolutely *wide open black sky* around it. Meteors can come from anywhere in the black. Obviously, facing Earth doesn’t explain the smoothness on this side.

@thetrading @elonmusk Problem anywhere but the earth-facing side is that you lose Earth's protection from meteor strikes. Here is the difference:

Solar panels on the surface of the earth generate nothing at night. On the moon, darkness lasts 2 weeks. Additionally, the Moon’s surface temperature changes rapidly and extremely—from roughly 250°F in sunlight to -208°F in darkness—due to its lack of an atmosphere to trap heat or block solar radiation. The temperature change is very rapid as soon as sunlight hits. Now tell me your solar panels and their metal frames can endure such extreme and rapid temperature cycling without material failure.

There are places on crater ridges near the poles with over 90% sunlight year around and -70° to 0°C (no problem e.g. panels on the ISS experience -120° to +120°C every orbit).

Hey @Costco, why on Earth can’t I buy a gift card to Costco without being a member? I want to give it to someone who is member. I have no interest in membership myself, but please take my money!

@Teslarati The problem is that their charge port is on the wrong side for Superchargers. They end up parking in the adjacent spot and effectively take up two spaces because a vehicle with the port on the rear driver’s side (Teslas) can no longer use the corresponding spot.
