Latest drought monitor is out and conditions continue to worsen due to the lack of steady rainfall. In order to get us out of the drought, we need at least 1.5 times the normal rainfall for a few months. That would equate to around 15-25" of rain over the next 3 months. We have a small chance for a few showers in the forecast. I'm breaking down the areas that have the best chance for rain on @wsbtv at 12!

First extreme pollen count of the year today! This is the highest pollen count since April 6, 2025. Allergy sufferers... relief is on the way. I am tracking the big pattern shift on @wsbtv at Noon.

A broken line of storms has formed over the past hour stretching from Blairsville down to LaGrange. Heavy rainfall and frequent lightning possible. Our main line of storms is just now entering NW GA. I will be tracking this line of storms and the potential for severe weather tonight at 11 on @wsbtv

Latest Drought Monitor shows the SW Metro is now in a severe drought. No widespread soaking rainfall in the forecast for at least the next week & a half. October is typically our driest month out of the year & the dry stretch will likely continue for several weeks... Drought conditions will worsen until we can bring back a wetter weather pattern. @wsbtv

A flood watch has been issued for much of north Georgia until 8PM Monday. Many areas have already received 1-3” of rain. Flash flood warning- Newton, Rockdale & Walton counties til 2:15PM today. Stay safe and do NOT cross any roads covered in water. Updates on Ch. 2 at 9AM.
