@evil___e Passengers can now keep their shoes on at TSA security checkpoints. However, you may be required to remove your shoes if an alarm occurs during the screening process or as part of our unpredictable security measures.

Unloaded firearms must be transported only in checked bags in a hard-sided, locked case and declared to the airline at check in. The locked container may be checked alone or be placed inside another checked bag. Ammunition must be properly packaged & may be included within the same hard-sided locked case. Please visit: tsa.gov/travel/transpo… Tasers must also be packed in checked bags. Since some airlines don't allow them on the plane, we recommend that you also check w/ your airline before you travel. Pls visit: tsa.gov/travel/securit…

Hi @AskTSA, I’m a Global Entry member and previously had TSA PreCheck (KTN 995460586). I accidentally traveled with a firearm in my carry-on, paid the civil penalty. I understand my PreCheck was suspended. Can you confirm when that suspension ends, and must reapply once it’s over

As of February 1, 2026, if you don’t have an acceptable ID, you can pay a nonrefundable $45 fee for TSA ConfirmID to try to verify your identity. To avoid delays or missing your flight, you should pre-pay the fee before arriving at the airport. The fee lets you use TSA ConfirmID for 10 days from the date of travel listed on the receipt. Please visit: tsa.gov/tsaconfirm-id

@AskTSA If your Drivers license is expired how do you get on a plane? Sorry, they are not an illegal so they won't just board them without ID. As an American citizen, they have to follow rules. What are they?

Liquid, creamy or spreadable food items must be in containers that are 3.4oz or less. The containers must be placed in your quart-sized bag with other travel-sized liquids, gels and aerosols. Larger sizes and quantities must be packed in checked bags. See details at: youtube.com/watch?v=ApD2hR… Since you're traveling internationally, we recommend that you also reach out to the customs agency at your destination to ensure these items are allowed into the country.

Thanks for the question. Temporary/paper IDs aren't accepted at the checkpoint. As of May 7, 2025, all individuals 18 years of age and older must have a REAL ID-compliant ID, which is a state-issued driver’s license, state-issued identification card, or another acceptable form of ID, such as a U.S. passport, when arriving at the airport security checkpoint. Those who present a state-issued identification that is not REAL ID compliant at TSA checkpoints and who do not have another acceptable alternative form of ID may attempt to establish their identity using TSA's modernized alternative identity verification system, TSA ConfirmID: tsa.gov/tsaconfirm-id

@AskTSA Hi My known traveler number is 151026235. I am traveling from Grand Cayman to Charlotte on American airlines today. Unfortunately the TSA pre check is not appearing on the boarding pass. My global entry approval was recent. Is this the reason?

Thanks for the question. You may use TSA ConfirmID multiple times within a 10-day period and won’t be required to pay an additional fee during this time. However, you will have to complete the identity verification process for each attempt to enter the security checkpoint without an acceptable form of ID. For more information, please visit: tsa.gov/tsaconfirm-id
