Thanks for reaching out! Vetting for TSA PreCheck® is based on information submitted in an airline reservation prior to arriving at the airport; therefore, we can't accept letters or cards at the checkpoint. You must have the TSA PreCheck indicator on the boarding pass in order to access the expedited screening lanes. We'd be happy to help. Pls click on the link to send us your full name, KTN, trusted traveler program, airline, confirmation number, flight number, date of travel and departure airport.

On domestic flights within the U.S. Mainland and Alaska, plants are generally allowed through the security checkpoint and in checked bags. If brought through the checkpoint, pls also reach out to your airline as they regulate the size and number of items each traveler is allowed to bring on the plane. We recommend that you also contact your airline to determine which items count towards your carry-on allowance.

@anthonyquin61 Good question! Solid stick deodorant is allowed in carry-on bags with no size limitation. However, roll-on, gel or aerosol deodorant must be 3.4 ounces or less & placed in your quart-sized liquids bag. For more info, please visit: tsa.gov/travel/securit…

Hi, Patrick! Generally, digital meat thermometers are allowed in carry-on bags. However, even if an item is generally permitted, it may be subject to additional screening or not allowed if it triggers an alarm during the screening process or poses other security concerns based on size or weight. The final decision rests with our checkpoint officers.

Thanks for the question! We don't approve or endorse any particular products. However, as long as the toiletry bag is the approximate dimensions of a quart-sized bag (6" x 9"), you'll be good to go through the checkpoint. Please remember to remove the filled toiletry bag from your carry-on and place it in a separate bin for X-ray screening.

We manage the security screening operations for flights within or departing the U.S. Since your flight originates from outside the U.S., we advise asking your airline for guidance on packing your items. Customs and Border Protection manages entry procedures into the U.S. For their guidance on bringing food into the country, pls visit: help.cbp.gov/s/article/Arti…

@AskTSA I applied for my KTN on 4/27/2026. Currently my application is still in progress. I know this process can take up to 60 days. Can you tell me what could possibly be delaying the process? My wife applied and received her KTN after 2 days.

@mergery030 Although they aren't specifically listed as a prohibited item in carry-on bags, our officers may not allow them past security if they present a security concern or cause an alarm. We recommend transporting them in checked bags. Safe travels.

Good question! REAL ID-compliant government-issued IDs that have been clipped at the corner (typically by the Department of Motor Vehicles) are accepted as long as all your personal information is still visible. To learn more about acceptable IDs and the process when one isn't available, please visit: tsa.gov/travel/securit…

Thanks for the question! Tools measuring 7 inches or less (when assembled) are allowed in carry-on bags. Tools greater than 7 inches in length must be packed in checked bags. Please note that the final decision rests with checkpoint supervisors on whether an item is allowed through the screening checkpoint.
