Strong government to government, people to people & business to business relations is the foundation for healthy tourism source markets. Compromising any of that impacts the market. #India has been the lead market for #Maldives for last 4 years in terms of tourist arrivals. Yet, we are tapping only a fraction of ever growing massive Indian market of a strong spending power. Tourism vision of Indian PM His Excellency @narendramodi will strengthen South Asia as a global destination benefiting Maldives too. The derogatory remarks made on SM by 2 officials of current Maldives govt & a member of govt coalition party towards PM Modi and Indians' sentiments is totally unacceptable. Its sad that current govt of Maldives does not give much regard to the huge support from Indian government, its travel-trade partners, and the Indian tourists especially the #Bollywood celebrities, in Maldives' tourism recovery initiatives from #COVID19. I hope that we can move forward in harmony and strengthen our tourism relations.
