دخلت الحرب في #السودان🇸🇩 عامها الرابع، وما تزال أكبر أزمة نزوح في العالم. أُجبر نحو 12 مليون شخص على الفرار من منازلهم، بعدما دمرت الحرب حياتهم، فيما لا تلوح في الأفق أي مؤشرات على انتهاء النزاع. لا يجب أن يتحول السودان إلى أزمة منسية.

في الخرطوم، عاصمة السودان، تحولت البيوت وأماكن العمل والشوارع ودور العبادة إلى أنقاض. تضررت أو دُمرت بالكامل المستشفيات والمدارس وشبكات المياه، مما أدى إلى انقطاع الخدمات الأساسية عن العائلات. هذا ما تخلفه الحرب. بعد مرور أكثر من ثلاث سنوات على الحرب، لا يمكن نسيان السودان.

It’s been over 3 years since the war in Sudan started. This is Guisma’s story from fleeing her home to finding safety in Chad. As a refugee, she has been busy rebuilding her life, combining determination and compassion to make a difference for her family and community.

The list keeps growing. People continue to flee their homes. Indifference only makes it worse. Stand with those who’ve lost everything.

Humanitarians and the life-saving aid they distribute are not a target. A UNHCR truck carrying emergency shelter kits was hit by a drone in North Darfur, Sudan. It was on its way to Tawila, where hundreds of thousands of people have fled for safety. The driver survived. The supplies did not. More than 1,300 families are now left without the shelter they urgently needed. Attacks like this are unacceptable. They put lives at risk and deepen an already devastating crisis. Civilians must be protected. Humanitarian workers must be protected.

Three years ago today, I was evacuated from Khartoum with thousands of UN staff - 850km to Port Sudan, 35 hours across brutal heat. Today I’m back. Standing in this city. And thinking of the 130+ humanitarians we’ve lost in Sudan since. They were not statistics. They were colleagues. Believers. Yesterday I co-facilitated a UN strategic planning workshop inside the Al Salam Rotana, the same hotel where frightened colleagues sheltered before evacuation three years ago.
