It’s hard to describe the feeling when the whole country knows russian planes are already in the air, on their way. We keep checking phones, refreshing, waiting. That uneasy knot in your chest before falling asleep (or not) as the night will once again be like a deadly lottery.

Amid ongoing attempts at peace talks and Putin’s bluff about an “energy ceasefire,” Russia is further weaponising winter - launching a massive overnight attack on #Ukraine and deliberately targeting civilian energy infrastructure, including facilities linked to nuclear power plants. Freezing people in darkness as temperatures plunge is pure terror. These systematic strikes on energy infrastructure, including nuclear‑related objects, constitute war crimes under international law and must be met with real accountability - not merely statements of concern - including action at the #ICC. Those who order and execute these attacks must face criminal responsibility. #Lithuania has recently donated generators worth €2.4 million, bringing our total energy support to more than €100 million. Our NGOs and diplomats are also mobilising - but far more is required. The scale of Russia’s attacks demands a commensurate scale‑up from all. 🇺🇦 urgently needs financial, technical, air‑defence and interceptor support. The EU, together with global partners, must accelerate deliveries without delay. Every moment of hesitation fuels Russia’s terror. Words and illusions of restraint will not deter Russia. Only strength, solidarity and accountability can force an end to its war of aggression.

Last night, Russia launched yet another massive attack on #Ukraine - likely the biggest blow to Ukraine’s gas infrastructure since the start of Russia’s full-scale war. Putin keeps cynically practicing his “energy diplomacy”, powered by missiles: destroying power plants, bombing pipelines, and aiming to leave Ukrainians to freeze before winter. Pure terror weaponized through cold and darkness. It’s time to strike back - by hitting the entire Russian energy sector, ramping up support for 🇺🇦 energy infrastructure, seizing and using frozen Russian assets for Ukraine, providing the weapons Ukraine needs to defend itself, also by giving Ukraine the means to destroy Russia’s missile and drone production facilities. The #EU and member states are in a position to use its instruments and reach out to their energy sectors and those in the third countries to identity every spare transfomer and generator that Ukraine critically needs at the moment. Keep trying, Putin - darkness won’t hide your defeat. No missile can extinguish Ukraine’s light or break its spirit - not even yours. #StandWithUkraine 🇺🇦

🧵 1/4 #NATO is facing a deliberate escalation of hybrid warfare from #Russia and its proxy, #Belarus. Last week, Russian military aircraft violated #Lithuanian airspace. Shortly after, dozens of helium balloons launched from Belarus entered our territory, moving towards major airports and disrupting civil aviation. These are not isolated incidents. #Germany, #Denmark, #Estonia, #Norway& #Poland have also reported incursions by drones, balloons and military aircraft - all disrupting civil aviation, threatening public safety and critical infrastructure. These are calculated provocations designed to destabilize, distract& test NATO’s resolve.

.@SecGenNATO was right - listening to Lavrov's speeches is worthless. Nothing good and true comes out of his mouth. Yesterday, Lavrov made another speech, this time - at the #UNGA, and lied about Russia's commitment to #UN Charter and its principles, and to peace. At the same time, #Russia showered #Ukraine with missiles and drones, thus showing off its real - terrorist - face. It was one of its largest air attacks against #Kyiv and the surrounding region since 2022. It was a calculated and deliberate escalation aimed at terrorizing civilians, and a desperate attempt to mask Russia’s stagnation on the battlefield. No real gains, just destruction.

Europe must stop buying Russian gas and oil, ramp up comprehensive, all-around pressure on Russia and provide Ukraine with robust air-defense.

Lithuania imports no Russian oil or gas since 2022. If we can do it, the rest of Europe can do it too.

At the #UN Security Council today, #Lithuania together with #Latvia expressed full solidarity with #Estonia. After #Poland’s and #Romania’s airspace violation by Russian drones, Russia now escalates again against Estonia. Since 2022, Russia’s provocative attacks - GPS jamming, sabotage, drone incursions - violate UN law and threaten global security. Russia ignores UN resolutions, pursues aggression, and violates neighbors’ sovereignty and territorial integrity - #Georgia 2008, #Crimea 2014, Ukraine 2022. We do not accept intimidation or attempts of domination. In response, We’re boosting deterrence with allies to stop future provocations. We call on the #UNSC &all UN members to strongly condemn Russia’s aggression.

As the critical US-Russia summit in Alaska approaches, speculation about a possible territorial “swap” between #Ukraine and #Russia is surfacing. There have been claims that the occupation of parts of Ukraine would be “temporary” and only “de facto”, leaving hope for their return to Ukraine in the future. History warns us to think twice. We, the Baltic nations know what “only de facto” Russian occupation means and that “temporary” can last half a century. Putin’s goals have not changed. He aims to subjugate Ukraine, split allies and get a say over European security. The only sure path to lasting peace is through strength: unwavering transatlantic unity to sustain pressure on Russia, maximum support to Ukraine so it can defend its people and territory, and deep, sustained investment in our own defence and security.
