Today I had to say goodbye to my most wonderful nearly 18 year old little Mr Asta. We had so many adventures together - moving across continents, visiting so many wonderful places from coast to coast. Sleep in peace my darling - I will miss you so very much. 💕🐶

@malolisica Thank you CC. It’s really rough - my first dog and best friend. I feel I failed him but in the end he had a long and very good life. 16 good years, 2 difficult years with dementia & arthritis I want to believe that his little dog soul can now chase squirrels again. 🕊️🐶💕

@macca_jan Yes if only. But the dementia became just so severe - it was hard on both of us. When the bad days outnumber the good days it’s time to think about letting go. He is at peace now. 💕🕊️

@86thistimeline @historykev Appropriate care is difficult to access and that MUST change. No doubt Canadian provinces have a lot of work to do. However the solution is not to restrict access to MAID. Just like palliative care, people must have a choice and the option to access MAID.

@rywilwrite If she was “perfectly healthy” her application wouldn’t have been approved. I feel for her. It takes an incredible amount of grit & determination (and suffering) to decide to apply for MAID. Being forced through the courts will make her suffer even worse and longer. Despicable.

@bjdobson08 @historykev That’s not an unusual question. It informs the HCW about how much caregiving you have to provide, if you are willing and able to stay longer in hospital or if you may prefer/need ambulatory treatment etc etc

@historykev When I was admitted to the hospital last year there was a form that I had to fill out. It had the usual questions regarding health history, but I had to pick up my chin off the floor when I read the question asking if I had dependents, spouse, or people who relied on me.
