R600M BOOST FOR EASTERN CAPE The Eastern Cape government has put aside R600-million to strengthen agriculture and improve food security. The funding will support small-scale farmers with tools, infrastructure and training to boost productivity and efficiency. A key focus is the Ilima Lokulima Programme, which aims to expand food production at household level, reaching 35,000 homes in the coming year. The initiative is designed to increase local food supply, support livelihoods and reduce dependence on external sources of food.
