For the people in the comments - known issue especially egregious in pvp for high fps pc's. Disabling steam overlay doesn't fix the issue completely and it's tested that gpu load on windows version is way more efficient right now.
If you don't find it worth it to spend the $25 to never worry if they'll fix it on steam or not, then just don't? Many do and that's who this is for.

Framerate issues, additional troubleshooting step. Disable “steam overlay while in-game” Report back to Bungie.net help forums if this helps.

Hey everyone, we know we've been a little quiet out here - but, as we get closer to the mid-Season 2 update, we wanted to take a chance to get the ball rolling again. Later this week we'll be sharing a blog covering some of the mid-Season 2 updates, including balance changes, details on Vault Breaker, a few much-needed weapon adjustments, and details on a buff to Cradle progression.
