Every legislature has its scandal merchants; the Knesset, like every parliament, is no exception. However offensive an MP’s conduct may be, it is not the role of any foreign ministry to call for the effective removal of an elected deputy from another country’s legislature. That is a matter for the voters. When an MFA crosses that line, it ceases to protest and starts to interfere. States sometimes do that, of course, but usually only when they are prepared to accept a serious diplomatic rupture as the price…
