@ClubCalvinist For me it was theology. For my wife it was modern baptists' gripes with babies and children in service

This is an interesting question. 99% of Christians aren’t theology nerds. I’ve brought 3 friends of mine to Presbyterianism simply by asking them to come to church. Posting Calvin on X won’t cut it. Sometimes it’s not more complicated than “wanna come to church with me?”
Knoxite Theocrat 🕊@KnoxiteTheocrat

What gets people in the door of a Presbyterian church, if that’s not the tradition they grew up in? I’m a cradle presby so this is pretty much all I’ve know my entire life.

@becomelutheran Of all the reasons to call Luther autistic I didn't think "is means is" would be the one

A new family came to our church today. The husband had very strong opinions. He is an S. Choir fan. Knew everything about the Magdeburg Confession and never opened the Small Catechism. Called Luther autistic for saying "is means is." This is going to get tricky

PROTESTANTS In order to not get absolutely slammed by Roman and Eastern apologetics, we need a coherent ecclesiology and authority structure for the visible church. Without this, how can we say that our visible church is true or that we are authoritatively and visibly correct?

@RobertC83522680 @LutheranAnswers Not really sure what you're getting at. People disagree on all manner of issues. But OP seems bent on some kind of sensationalism by triumphalistically "refuting" Huff's statements with alternative views and touting it as a "fact check." In short, it's click bait.

"Lightning was around each strand of hair and it would zap my fingers. It was so cool." False prophet Micah Turnbo describes sitting on God the Father's lap and combing his beard with his fingers.

Brito is not my favorite Protestant but he is right. 1. I went to an RC high school and 90%+ were functionally pagan, even the confirmed ones. 2. The newer breed of apologist base their arguments so strongly on their felt needs for certainty, and so punt biblical questions to their magisterium, circumventing the need to be responsible readers and exegetes. 3. Even worse, many actively denigrate scripture, both in its authority and clarity 4. The Pontifical Biblical Comission is overwhelmingly liberal so good luck with that
Uriesou Brito@uribrito

Former Protestants will discover after one generation that Romanism will produce biblical illiteracy in their children's children.

In 1972, 32% of Protestants were Baptists. It's 29% now. Methodists have dropped from 22% to 8%. Non-Denoms have risen from 3% to 30%.

@PastorDoostyn I've been dwelling a lot on the prodigal son recently with respect to repentance, and it's a beautiful picture because it imagines it as simply as possible: return to Christ. The son was thinking about penance, but the father ran to him as soon as he could see him returning.

Most people don't know this, but the Korean churches in the PCUSA have their own Presbyteries and frequently ordain pastors from WTS and RTS. They all confess Biblical inerrancy on their websites. Many are even young earth creationist. Btw I'm not even expressing any opinions about this I'm just letting people know

Went to a Dutch Reformed Church once and during the offering a guy sang "Lean on Me" by Bill Withers to reinforce the sermon on the importance of Christian community.
