Burt Jones doesn't masquerade as a Trump endorsed candidate. He was also endorsed by Turning Point Action! VOTE for who will put Georgia and America First! VOTE Burt Jones! As we prepare for the Master's tournament, I feel it's important to inform everyone that Augusta, GA is a shithole. The clear headed locals call it Disgusta for a reason. Feral blacks populate the downtown and visitors during the other 51 weeks of the year are more likely to get a hammer to the skull than a good southern meal from an independent restaurant. Yes, Augusta is the place to be if you enjoy chain restaurants and the noises of monkey man James Brown. On the plus side, there was a stripper with a snake for awhile. But the snake died and she got old and crusty. Residents of the Laney Walker housing projects protested when their shithole was torn down (to build a new one). "My mama and granmama grew up here, this is home," one obese woman was quoted in the Disgusta Chronicle (a liberal shitrag with infinite typos in their articles). Augusta has the #1 golf course in the world and nothing else. Hospitals and an army base. Any military person who spent time at Ft. Gordon will tell you it's a dump. Even the Hooters, populated by John Daly during most Master's weekends, is full of off brand, suspicious women. The city government? Criminal blacks for the most part. Ed McIntyre, Hardie Davis, Jr., and current mayor Garnett Johnson have all been convicted or accused of financial crimes of some sort. But the Master's? This is like when your parents come to visit and you clean up the house. Everyone puts on a smile and you pretend your 401k is booming. The Augusta National can ship in a 100 year oak and plant it in a week, and you'd never know it hasn't been there forever. It is one glorious week in Augusta, GA.

Augusta, Georgia is in my congressional district where I’m running.  I want to share something that is on my heart. It’s so wild the contrast. I was driving through Augusta this week… And you can feel it. The energy. The excitement. The buzz of the Masters. Jets coming in one after another… Champagne toasts being raised… Money being spent on merch!! Some people rent out their homes for upwards of $100,000 and if it’s under 14 days, they don’t pay taxes.   For a moment, it feels like the entire city is shining. But if you keep driving… if you turn down a different road… you see something else. You see homes still not fully repaired from hurricane Helene. You see families trying to figure out how they’re going to afford groceries this week… how they’re going to put gas in the car just to get to work. And it hits you.. All of this is happening at the exact same time. While champagne is being poured… someone else is counting pennies. While jets are landing… someone else is still waiting on a roof to be fixed. Same city. Same week. Two completely different realities. And here’s the truth; right here in District 12, we’re sitting at around a 28% poverty rate in some areas. That should stop every one of us in our tracks. I’m not against success, I want more of it. That’s what makes this country great. But when prosperity only shows up for a week… and struggle stays the rest of the year… we’ve got to ask why. Because right now, it feels like Augusta is wrapped in wealth… but underneath it, the reality hasn’t changed. And that’s where leadership matters. We’ve got to bring in better industry to District 12. One of my counties literally built a building and put a sign up that said if you bring jobs we will come. One of my other counties has the highest food stamp rate in the state. How do we fix it?  jobs that last, wages that grow, and opportunities that give people a real path forward. A friend invited me to the Masters this week. Truly one of the last vestiges of high-trust American culture. No phones allowed. Valuables strewn around everywhere. Untouched empty folding chairs reserving prime views. No jeans or backwards hats. Rigorous enforcement of sportsmanship etiquette. Zero-tolerance policy for offenders. Pretty incredible to witness Southern culture at its vestigial best.
